THE GOOD:

Roz:

I want to hug this demon who held onto the last page that Diana needed. But he does pose so many interesting questions about what comes next.

We also finally meet the babies! I’m glad they’re alive and I adore their names.

Christie:

The birthing scene is absolutely beautiful. It’s so intimate and elegant and sweet.

I love watching Chris and Miriam trying to come up with what caused Matthew’s blood rage like a puzzle. We also get to see them close together a lot. I do hope we will eventually see them get together in subsequent books.

I do love watching Diana more effortlessly using her magic. She’s grown so much from the first season.

And finally — we get to see the cradles! They’re as beautiful as I imagined them to be in the books.

THE BAD

Roz:

Why can’t Knox just stop and go far far far away? His skulking is just giving me the creeps each and every time he’s on screen.

Christie:

Knox has lost it, and that cannot be good for anyone.

Matthew’s delay in coming home at this point was weak compared to the books, when it was clear both he and Jack were trying to come down from everything that happened in New Orleans so that Matthew wasn’t a danger to everyone.

I am also so mad at Gallowglass for going off like that. I get it, I just have never been happy with it, even in the books.

And finally — freaking Baldwin. God I hate him.

BOOK VS. TV

Christie:

It’s disappointing to me that the coven locator scene didn’t go the way it did in the book. No mural of the old coven, no Ysabeau getting to be part of the spell, which was a touching scene.

TJ Weston is different in the books. There’s a slight homage to the original Timothy Weston — the red cowboy boots you see on a table in Weston’s home. He wears them in the books, and it’s how Diana recognizes that she saw him at the Bodleian in the beginning of the first book (we see someone wearing the same books in the first season at the library). He also is not neurotic and afraid as he is in the book.

The twins’ birth was slightly different in the book, but one part I figured they might have kept was the way Diana gave birth — it was supposed to be a throwback to Elizabethan times, not because she wanted to, she just ended up having to.

Finally, TJ Weston does not die by Knox’s hand in the books. But it’s more proof that Knox has gone far over the line. I hope his end is satisfying — for us.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Roz:

This “Where is my Mind” cover is something to have play as Gallowglass leaves and we find Timothy killed by Knox.

Christie:

So yeah, this is a really minor point but — Miriam’s long “super hero” coat is back! I love that coat so freaking much.

And I can’t wait to see the christening next week. It’s going to be epic.
