A Million Little Things: “letting go”

By  |

A Million Little Things aired the third episode from its third season on Thursday night.

Here is a synopsis for season 3, episode 3: “letting go”

Katherine discovers a possible connection between Eddie’s accident and Alex’s mysterious death. Meanwhile, Rome seeks help to address some pent-up anger issues, and Maggie continues on her journey of self-discovery in England. As Delilah prepares for her trip, Gary helps Danny confront a bully at his school.

Nice Girls Cay and Rueben share their thoughts on this episode [spoiler alert]:

Cay:

So, it turns out the “deal” of the guy in the truck is not that he hit Eddie, but that he is Alex’s father and knows exactly how she died! That is quite a revelation that she died from a drug overdose or reaction and then they let Eddie believe for all these years that he did it. That’s pretty awful, especially since a lot of his drinking seems to have been related to that guilt, although obviously had he not been drinking the night it happened, then he would have known that he wasn’t involved. And now Eddie sees his accident as a direct result of this deception. Ugh. It looks like his story is headed towards an opiate addiction – I really wish they wouldn’t go there!

Side note: I still love Katherine’s assistant – he’s hilarious!

So glad to see Regina and Rome talk and reach out to Eve and try to move “forward” with their lives. I didn’t expect her to call Eve – I assumed it was the social worker to let her know they were interested in a baby again.

Gary remains my favorite character! I love how he talks to Danny! Still not loving the Darcy relationship, but I guess it will grow on me. Back to Danny, I don’t exactly understand why a kid who just lost his sister to suicide would make fun of another kid who lost his dad to suicide.  That must have been some talk between Tyler and his dad on the way to the Dixon house!

Ha, well guess we didn’t get our wish of Maggie and her flatmate remaining platonic for a while. Buttered toffee? Really? Even in England that seems like a kind of weird pickup line! And so much risk of it going very badly if she was misreading him. Relationship aside, my dream for her character would be if Maggie goes on to become “famous” for her podcast and maybe she’ll write a book, too.

Rueben:

Yeah, Cay, I was quite surprised by the revelation from the red truck guy, who I knew was the dad of Alex from reading articles, after the fact, for the previous episodes; but I was NOT expecting the drug overdose aspect or the fact that he “arranged” the drowning in order to protect his other daughter. I get why he did it, but that’s not only messed up, but also so wrong to allow Eddie to think he caused Alex’s accident. I also don’t want to see him go down the road of drug addiction to get through the pain of his physical limitations but also his anger over his current circumstance let alone learning the truth about Alex. It’s too much to take for one person especially someone with a long history of substance abuse. This is not going to bode well for Eddie at all.

I love that Katherine is watching out for him, and that Theo is trying so hard to make sure things are set up for his dad. The little guy is really trying. And, yes, Katherine’s assistant is a HOOT.

I enjoy the aspect of Maggie recording her podcasts, and agree that I’d love to see her get famous from those and write a book – that would be great – but I too think it’s wrong for her and Trevor, the flatmate to get involved. In fact, I yelled, “don’t even go there,” when she threw out the invite to him. I just wanted them to be friends, as I think it just works better. She needs to be British Maggie, and just spend some time on her own – not permanently, but she needs to “find” herself; and complicating the household relationship with Trevor is just going to wreak things.

I agree I LOVE Gary. He’s great with Danny, he’s great with Delilah, he’s great with Eddie, he’s great with Rome and Regina; but I’m not okay with his relationship with Darcy. She seems like a nice enough person, and her being there to be Eddie’s physical therapist helps (obviously), but I just don’t buy their relationship, and I don’t feel any real chemistry between them. I force myself to tolerate their relationship, and it shouldn’t have to be like that.

Wow, Regina called Eve. I did not see that coming. I, too, thought she was calling the social worker to move forward with another possible adoption, but perhaps it’s too soon for that. Maybe she and Rome need to work on their relationship, deal with their loss and grief, get in a better place; and then when they are BOTH ready, they can move forward with becoming parents. And, let me just say, I’m not okay with this actress re-writing scenes for Rome’s screenplay. I get it that he has to tread lightly because his movie wouldn’t be getting made without her, but she cannot control his creation. Yes, you can have rewrites, and she can have SOME say in the character that she will portray, but this is Rome’s story NOT hers. I wouldn’t be okay with her exacting that much control. I have a feeling that Rome is going to blow up at her at some point, and that will not fare well for the movie.

Oh, and don’t get me started on that little sh*t from school who was bullying Danny, and gave him that bloody nose. I wouldn’t have handled it as well as Gary let alone Danny (I would’ve smacked that kid so hard – probably a good thing I’m not a parent!); but kudos for Danny being the kid that he is. I agree with your thought process about what a kid who just lost his sister would go after someone else who lost a family member in the same way. It just doesn’t make sense to me.

The bigger question now is: who was in that red SUV that hit Eddie? Was it the drunk that he encountered in the bar before he walked out? Or was it someone else? I want to see that play out more than watch Eddie spiral into drug addiction, which I really hope they nip in the bud sooner rather than later.

Cay's family thinks her obsession with pop culture is "not normal". Normal is boring!
