Blindspot Roundtable: “Head Games”

By  |

Blindspot aired a new episode this week titled “Head Games,” which focused on the following:

When Jane is shot and Weller is kidnapped, the team must fight to save both of their lives while maintaining the secrecy of their hidden base. Meanwhile, Weller is haunted by some dark ghosts from Blindspot’s past.

Join the Nice Girls Cay, Rueben, Roz, and Lisa as they discuss the episode using our feature SASSY: S(tupid), A(wesome), S(o) S(o) and Y(our Thoughts):

STUPID

Roz: Why can’t the team have a week with only one problem? Jane’s surgery and the resulting crash by that not-friend of Rich’s was one step too far.

Lisa: Wow. There was a lot of stupid in this episode! I feel like the team is too intelligent to be making the dumb ass mistakes as of late! How could the team not notice Jane visibly getting white as a sheet when she claimed it was just a graze? How could Rich trust his “blood guy” and not be more careful about being followed? Also, when did the team become a surgery team? I’m not a fan of torture scenes so the entire torture Weller until he cracks scene was a snooze for me. I really hope they wrap up this series better than they have been this season. This show is too good to let us down in the end.

Cay: I’m totally with Lisa on this – improbable surgery scene plus torture/hallucination scene is pretty much all my least favorite plot devices in one episode! You can do surgery scenes right, this just wasn’t it (Homeland does a relatively good job and LOST somehow made Jack teaching someone how to remove his own appendix believable!) How is it that no one shot in the abdomen on TV ever has any internal organs damaged? Also, VERY unlikely that Zapata is same blood type as Jane – AB- is less than 1% of the population and even if Jane was AB+ (and could thus take AB-) that’s less than 5%. So, a bit of a lazy way to tell the team that she is pregnant. Kurt’s escape, also very unlikely.

Rueben: Yeah, there was a lot wrong with this episode, and you gals hit on all of them. The biggest “wrong” that I had a problem with was Zapata conveniently showing up just as Weller got away. Really?! They’re both in the right place at the right time like that. I was rolling my eyes the entire surgery scene, as it was SO predictable and is such a cliche at this point. We need to ratchet things up, it’s the final season!

AWESOME

Roz: Oscar! I loved how he was brought back, and Francois was outstanding!

Cay: Meh, there was nothing awesome in this episode for me

Lisa: I loved seeing Oscar pop in as I am a fan of Francois Arnaud (and I totally miss Midnight Texas). That was a nice surprise. I’m glad they found Weller and Jane didn’t die of her gunshot wound.

Rueben: I was surprised to see Oscar in the episode, as I wasn’t expecting that at all; and I found it a little interesting that Weller would hallucinate a grown-up Bethany working with that gang. There wasn’t anything else outstanding for me in this episode, though.

SO SO

Roz: Weller giving up those small details on the team’s location. I know we had to have him give up something, but it feels like too much right now.

Lisa: This entire episode was so-so for me honestly. Not much more I can say on that note.

Cay: Totally with Lisa here!

Rueben: Yep, we’re all in agreement on this episode. Wasn’t it’s finest moments for sure especially the ending with them all holding their guns as the elevator descends and then they just stand there in like an old time western stand-off. Just not plausible!!

YOUR THOUGHTS

Roz: Art heist next week? Yes please!

Cay: The set up for next week’s episode looks ridiculous, but an Ocean’s Eleven or Italian Job -type episode could be fun after all the gloom and doom this season. The Gardner Heist has fascinated me for many years! The museum has info on their website about the theft for those unfamiliar with the details. The paintings and a few other items were stolen on March 18, 1990 and none have been recovered in the past 30 years, despite the FBI tentatively identifying the two men who pulled off the heist. There is a $10 million reward for the return (the pieces have an estimated value of $500 million).

Lisa: I really hope next week’s episode is as good as it looks! I love a good art heist and it looks like the team is working together on the same page which is what they need to be doing right now. I’m so ready for them to take down Burke!

Rueben: I’m not sure how I feel about an art heist unless, like Cay said, it’s done in a fun way. By the looks of the teaser with Patterson in a nun’s habit and even Rich seeming to be dressed in holy frocks (and was he speaking with an Irish accent?!?), it could end up being funny. I just want this whole bunker storyline to end and for them to kiss some ass, taking down Burke and her swarm as soon as possible! PS: Thanks, Cay, for those details on The Gardner Heist, as I didn’t know about that.
