Spend Easter Weekend with a Few Sci-Fi/Fantasy Dramas

By  |

Easter is fast approaching, and given all that is happening in the world, we are all spending our days very different than we were just one month ago.

Social distancing wasn’t part of our nomenclature. Meanwhile having to wear masks and gloves to go grocery shopping is almost the norm now. Safer at home orders have been mandated all over the world. It is a very unnerving and unsettling time for everyone on the planet.

We are all spending a LOT more time at home. Some people are able to work from home while plenty of others are simply trying to find a way to fill all of the hours of each day with something other than just keeping their homes sanitized, their kids preoccupied and their own selves from going stir crazy.

In an effort to help keep our readers entertained, I thought it would be fun to suggest a few sci-fi and fantasy shows that folks could get hooked on. And the best part there are plenty of seasons for the following shows that you could fill up a lot of hours by watching these shows.

Eureka (Sci-Fi Channel now Syfy)

In the years since World War II, the U.S. government has been relocating the world’s geniuses (and their families) to the Pacific Northwest town of Eureka. Daily life there shifts between amazing innovation and total chaos. U.S. Marshal Jack Carter (Colin Ferguson) learns this first-hand when his car breaks down in Eureka, stranding him among the town’s eccentric citizens. When they unleash a scientific creation still unknown to the outside world, it’s up to Carter to restore order. Subsequently, he’s let in on one of America’s best-kept secrets.

The cast included Salli Richardson-Whitfield, Erica Cerra, Neil Grayston, Joe Morton, Jordan Danger (nee Hinson), Chris Gauthier, Niall Matter and Ed Quinn.

All 5 seasons of Eureka are available on Amazon Prime.

Drop Dead Diva (Lifetime)

When beautiful but shallow model-wannabe Deb (Brooke D’Orsay) dies in a car accident, her soul resurfaces in the person of Jane (Brooke Elliott), a queen-size attorney who is brilliant and well-liked … or the exact opposite of Deb. Now, by a twist of fate, Deb must come to terms with inhabiting Jane’s curvier frame in an ultimate showdown between brains and beauty.

The cast included Margaret Cho, Kate Levering, April Bowlby, Jackson Hurt, Josh Stamberg, Lex Medlin and Ben Feldman.

You can watch all 6 seasons of Drop Dead Diva courtesy of Amazon Prime.

Warehouse 13 (Sci-Fi Channel now Syfy)

Following an abrupt transfer, Secret Service agents Pete Lattimer (Eddie McClintock) and Myka Bering (Joanne Kelly) find themselves in the middle of South Dakota at a massive, top-secret storage warehouse that holds every strange artifact, mysterious relic, out-of-this-world object and supernatural souvenir ever found by the U.S. government. Lattimer and Bering’s new task, as directed by the warehouse’s caretaker, longtime agent Artie Nielsen (Saul Rubinek), is to investigate reports of unexplainable and paranormal activity in an effort to secure more peculiar and dangerous objects, and to help Artie manage the warehouse itself.

The cast included Allison Scagliotti, Genelle Williams, Aaron Ashmore and CCH Pounder.

Amazon Prime has all 5 seasons of Warehouse 13 available.

I want to wish all our readers who celebrate the holiday a very happy and safe Easter!!
