A Million Little Things: “One Year Later”

By  |

A Million Little Things aired a new episode on Thursday night.

Here is a synopsis for season two, episode 17: One Year Later

It’s the one-year anniversary of Jon’s death and everyone reflects on how much their lives have changed over the last year. But for Eddie, his dream opens up a new mystery.

Nice Girls Cay and Rueben share their thoughts on this episode:

Cay:

This episode was actually surprisingly drama-free, or at least it was pretty positive overall. It seemed a bit weird that Eve was not really mentioned (unless I missed it) after all that drama from the last episode, especially with the focus on Rome and his father. I loved that Regina heard what happened and immediately went to bat for him and talked to his father. He seems to respect her – I hope it worked! He and Rome need each other more than ever since his mother died.

If you cut the scenes with Eddie and Sophie, you’d never know from the group dynamic, especially between Delilah and Katherine, that there was the affair or any other issues. It was good to see Sophie and Eddie start to repair their relationship. It’s also remarkable how far Eddie and Katherine have come. I think it will be good for their relationship for him to be the main income for a bit, assuming he can make it work. I am assuming that Katherine will be successful, although they are certain to throw some challenges in her path. Speaking of challenges, Theo and the headdress was cute the first time, then got weird when he wore it to dinner.

It was also kind of  strange that we didn’t see anything about Dakota after Eddie confronted her about the drugs. Are they still working together?

Maggie and Gary, the star-crossed lovers. Is she really going to go to Oxford? I’m kind of tired of them dangling it if it’s not going to happen. Would be romantic for Gary to go with her, seeing as he is flexible job-wise right now. However, the show wouldn’t be the same without his character.

The dream sequences were interesting! Although a bit unusual in that we’ve not seen much in the way of dreams and for both Gary and Eddie to have weird ones in the same episode was unexpected.

Rueben:

I love the idea of Maggie and Gary getting back together, but why have Maggie get the Oxford Fellowship and NOT go. And, what was up with Gary going out for drinks with Darcy if they are still dangling the will-they, won’t-they between him and Maggie. They clearly both still love each other, they just need to step up and fix the relationship or cut the ties completely. It’s just going to hurt either or both of them in the long run.

I have to admit I was kind of glad for a drama-free episode where they could celebrate their friendships, and pay tribute to Jon. They are finally in a better place just like Rome said in his toast. Oh yeah, how sweet and touching was Theo’s toast. I wasn’t expecting that at all. And, yes Cay, that headdress Theo was wearing was a little weird for the dinner! You are right, though, why are we so quiet about Eve. I can’t believe that Derek would just give up that easily. I’m waiting for something explosive to happen where he is concerned for the finale.

Speaking on explosive. Something bad happened at that lake front that Eddie’s sister talked about. Why else would Eddie be dreaming about a hand with teal fingernail polish coming out of the water at him. Something horrible happened there that set Lindsay and Eddie on their road to alcoholism, right?!

Kudos to Regina for stepping up for Rome with his dad. I knew/know men just like Rome’s dad, but given all they have been through this past year, as you said Cay, they need each other, and it’s time to put down the tough man act and be father and son, supportive to each other and on each other’s side rather than bickering and such.

I’m also happy that Sophie and Eddie seem to be mending their relationship. I think Sophie is finally realizing that her dad wasn’t perfect, that there were problems for her parents and problems for Eddie and Katherine when the affair happened. If Katherine can forgive both Eddie and Delilah, then hopefully Sophie can eventually do the same thing. And speaking of Katherine, I thought it was very sweet that Delilah and Regina told her to use that space for her new office, and let’s hope that Eddie can actually financially support them while she establishes her own practice. Does this mean we’ll see more of Carter, her assistant? He’s a hoot, and seems so on Katherine’s side.

Cay:

Good thought on the lake house – I didn’t make the connection, although maybe I should have because that poncho that Eddie was wearing was seriously 80s, which could suggest that it was a combination of a memory with a dream. Regardless of where it happened, Eddie asking his sister about “how Alex died” is ominous!
