A Million Little Things: “The Sleepover”

By  |

A Million Little Things aired a new episode on Thursday night.

Here is a synopsis for season two, episode 14: The Sleepover

Delilah learns to navigate Danny’s first sleepover, while Rome and Regina continue to try and protect their potential birth mother from her past. Meanwhile, Maggie leans on a friend for her six-month cancer checkup.

Nice Girls Cay and Rueben share their thoughts on this episode:

Rueben:

Given how excited and supportive both Regina and Rome have been toward their birth mother, Eve, I really, really hope that their planned adoption of her baby actually happens. The fact that Eve’s baby daddy seems to be such a threat – even though we have yet to actually see more than just his car – I want to believe that the show won’t let this story devolve into the normal troupe of the birth mother changing her mind or the birth father swooping in to claim the child because he was left out of the process. I want to see Rome and Regina have a happy ending; and I hope that Eve can find a happy life that doesn’t involve the baby daddy – especially give his violent tendencies.

I have to admit I was kinda surprised by Theo’s reaction toward Dakota, but on the other hand, I guess his dislike for her is understandable given what he comprehends about what Eddie and Delilah did. I just hope Eddie and Katherine can get through to him so he can come to terms with all that has happened.

It’s obvious that Maggie and Gary still have feelings for each other – perhaps Gary a little more so than Maggie – but it was kinda comforting to see them flashback to moments they shared as Maggie waited for the results of her 6-month check up. Gary was clearly relieved to get the news that Maggie was okay.

How cute are Danny and Elliott? It’s a shame that Elliott has to move away because of his dad’s new job. But it certainly was cute that Elliott said, “Danny Dixon you changed my life.”

I wondered what Gary found in Sophie’s sleeping bag the morning after the sleepover, but I wasn’t expecting it to be weed. What is up with that? I was really hoping that the drama with Sophie was over, but this is going to take it a whole different direction, and not necessarily a good one. Quite frankly, if that dope is really Sophie’s, I’m very disappointed in her. I’m not supportive of taking drugs of any kind so if this storyline continues it’s not going to be one I’m going to like very much.

Cay:

I’m with you, I really hope that things don’t go badly for Regina and Rome! It’s always hard to know on shows like this because the whole idea is for the characters to always have some sort of drama! But baby-daddy drama that prevents them from keeping this baby would upset me. On the plus side, having Eve around gives Regina more opportunities to try to heal from her past abuse.

Not surprised that Theo is finally obviously struggling to come to terms with all the changes in his life. He’s always been a bit precocious in some ways. I really liked how Eddie and Katherine handled it and I love the honesty between the two of them these days. It’s a shame that it nearly took losing everything they had to get to that point.

Speaking of honesty, it’s nice to see a bit more of it from Gary and Maggie, although I’m wondering how long they’ll be on the slow burn now moving forward. At least Eric is out of the picture now (hopefully forever!). Gary is back to being the great supportive friend and “uncle” that we originally grew to love. It’s interesting that they really haven’t covered his job (or lack therefore of it!). We never really found out how he lost it, did we? And then it hasn’t really been mentioned until this episode when he made the comment that he doesn’t work to Sophie. Why aren’t we seeing him looking for jobs? How is he paying the bills? Is his Mom supporting him, despite their animosity?

In the grand scheme of things with Sophie, experimenting with pot seems so…normal. Yeah, there always has to be something, but this seems relatively minor (and recreational pot is legal in MA although not for minors). I was expecting something worse, to be honest.

Danny and Elliott are very cute, but I just keep thinking “you are 13!”. Yeah, I guess at that age everything seems long-term but seriously, that’s too young to be in a real relationship anyway, in my opinion. Whining that you’ll never find the right person at 13 just annoys all of us who are older!
