Batwoman episode 103: Down, Down, Down

Gotham City impatiently awaits another visit from Batwoman, who they believe is Batman, Alice (Rachel Skarsten) taunts Kate (Ruby Rose) with a secret; Kate is visited by a childhood friend (Tommy Elliot -guest star Gabriel Mann). Luke (Camrus Johnson) and Kate work together to figure out who took a valuable weapon from Batman’s arsenal.

Join NiceGirls Lisa and Cay as they discuss the episode using our feature SASSY: S(tupid), A(wesome), S(o) S(o) and Y(our Thoughts):

STUPID

Lisa: I hope Sophie doesn’t end up in the stupid column each week, but she is 2 in a row for me this week. She was stupid to tell Kate to move on and then get jealous when she was talking with Reagan (the cute bartender). And…to know that she didn’t tell her husband that Kate was her ex is stupid. How can you marry someone who doesn’t really know who you are? Ugh…Sophie needs to get it together.

Cay: Yeah, Sophie is annoying, but clearly she’s been conflicted for a lot of years. It seems unlikely that the two of them are going to get back together, so the “make Sophie squirm” plot lines aren’t doing it for me. Give the girl a break – she’s not evil for not feeling comfortable coming out, especially in a horrible place like Gotham.

AWESOME

Lisa: All hail Batwoman! We finally saw her put on that red wig and take her place as Batwoman, not Batman’s body double. She knows that Gotham needs her and she took on the responsibility of protecting Gotham and I love it! I swear every time she suits up I’m like “Woo Hoooo!” It is so cool that we can see strong female superheroes on television. That will never get old for me!

Cay: I love Mary’s second life and how she manages to come off so shallow and such a flake when she’s anything but. I also like how she told off Sophie on Kate’s behalf.  I also like to see Kate owning the suit now. Although the red wig seems out of character for Kate. I guess it in itself is a bit of a disguise. At least they didn’t put Batwoman in a skirt like they did to Supergirl for multiple seasons!

I find the relationship between Kate and Alice/Beth very interesting. Will add another layer now that their father seems to be realizing that Kate is right.

SO SO

Lisa: Kate vs. Sophie’s husband. I get that there is a natural rivalry there (at least for Kate anyway), Mr. Hubby has no idea who she is, in more ways than one. I hope they don’t take the story line where they are trying to best each other for Sophie’s sake. I got a little hint of it in this episode but hopefully it will just stay a hint.

Cay: The plot with Tommy, AKA  “Bruce Wayne’s best douche friend” and the elevators and gun just fell flat for me. His motivation seemed weak and he doesn’t seem like the kind of guy that Bruce Wayne would have been friends with as it sounds like he’s been an awful person all along.

YOUR THOUGHTS

Lisa: This was another solid episode! I’m so glad we finally saw her in the red wig as Batwoman and the Bat is out the bag…lol. I am such a dork. Anyway, I enjoyed seeing Gabriel Mann on this episode as Tommy. I used to love him on Revenge. I hope we  see him again this season. I like Kate’s new love interest Reagan but with her ability to “read people” so easily I wonder if she can be trusted. Also, I was pleasantly surprised to see Alice save Kate’s life. We will see their twin bond grow despite the crazy? We shall see!

Cay: I don’t know what was going on in Alice’s dream, but I want more info on what happened to her in all those years to turn her into such a monster. And I want to know what Mary’s mother’s connection with her is!
