STUMPTOWN Roundtable: Rip City Dicks
Stumptown fans! Join Nice Girls Roz, Leah and Lisa while we discuss the episode of Stumptown – “Rip City Dicks” which focused on the following:
In hopes of becoming a certified private investigator, Dex seeks mentorship from veteran PI Artie Banks. Meanwhile, Hoffman grows suspicious of Grey after evidence proves that he has a connection to a victim in his case.
The Good
Roz: Donal Logue is always a great get for a show as a cop, and this is no exception. Artie is not a character I want to like in any way, but he’s a wonderful way to introduce Dex into something harder and edgier in her work as a PI.
Leah: Dexedrine? That is a unique name. I agree with Lisa – the 70’s flashback was awesome! Not to mention the way Dex just kept walking into Artie Banks office, despite the protests of the receptionist.
Lisa: I loved the Rip City Dicks throwback to the 70’s flashback! The hair, the clothes and sunglasses! Dex saying “Well sense it’s time to take out the trash” Ha! That was pretty awesome. Also, Detective Miles cooking dinner and seducing Dex? Color me jealous *swoon*
The Bad
Roz: Artie is a right bastard and the worst! I hate guys like this, but you don’t bring in Logue to be a good guy.
Leah: Oh what an actual dick Artie Banks turned out to be! I wasn’t super happy with how Detective Miles was questioning Grey and Dex. It was underhanded and not a good look, despite how good looking Miles is.
Lisa: Artie Banks! Who knew he would turn out to be a double crossing crook? I really liked him as a mentor for Dex and felt they had a real father-like moment in the car. He was quirky like she is and thought they would make a good team. I was disappointed that he turned out to be a money chasing douchebag!
Final Thoughts
Roz: Artie is going to be Dex’s Chinatown and I’m all here for it; her life as a PI is going to be defined by this case and what it means.
Leah: Artie has really really underestimated Dex. I wish Grey would tell Dex what is going on with Feini and the money and Kane and Frank. I feel like she would understand, she knows he is a felon and they have been friends long enough to know who he is and who he isn’t. Also also….Dex’s parents are alive? What? Where are they????
Lisa: I wish Grey would be honest about his debt and connection to Feini’s death. I know he’s afraid, but Detective Miles might be able to help him. I feel that his silence is putting Dex and her brother in danger they aren’t aware of. Grey should come clean!
