The InBetween Roundtable: Kiss Them For Me

By  |

The InBetween premiered on NBC this week and we gave it a watch. See what we had to say below.

Tom and Damien track a mysterious killer who has targeted several kids at the same high school, while Cassie tries to help a woman solve her own death while her anxious family waits for news about her disappearance.

Join the NiceGirls staff as they discuss the episode using our new feature SASSY: S(tupid), A(wesome), S(o) S(o) and Y(our Thoughts):

STUPID

Leah: Not so much stupid but curious about something bad….how does Cassie continue to love a life at all. She is constantly stopping and being immersed in visions. How does she safely drive!

Rueben: You know what, I hadn’t thought of that until you mentioned it, Leah. Yeah, she’s been “lucky” so far that her visions haven’t happened when she’s actually driving. I don’t think I’d be able to function even remotely well if I had her ability.

Lisa: Agreed! Her visions take so much out of her and quite frankly they are horrifying! I don’t know how she does it. Maybe the comfort of knowing she helps people keeps her going. But she definitely should stay off of the road.

AWESOME

Leah: My awesome is the new detective so readily believing in Cassie’s abilities. I get so tired of shows playing that skeptical angle. This is a nice change.

Rueben: I thought the awesome was the elaborate vision Cassie had of the masked ball – more for the visuals of it all than anything else.

Lisa: You guys rock! I agree with you both. I love that we don’t have that skeptical angle from the Damien. It’s one of the things I really enjoy about this show. My awesome for this episode was that Mr. Creeptastic wasn’t in it singing his Peter Rabbit song *shiver*

SO SO

Leah: I don’t really have one from this episode. It was a solid episode for me.

Rueben: For me it’s the fact that the dead woman had a drug problem. I understand a lot of people have gotten addicted to medications because of injuries they have sustained. I guess I’d rather not see it trotted out over and over in shows.

Lisa: I understand your point Rueben. My so so is going to be on the petty train but does Tom ever take off that damn hat? I am ready for him to take it off.

YOUR THOUGHTS

Leah: I would love now that some of the larger sporting events are over for this show to get a solid few uninterrupted weeks of air time. Give it time to build an audience. It’s a good show and has a great creepy factor.

Rueben: You are so right. Given the ratings this show has been getting and the pre-emptions, it’s getting the shaft by the network. They barely even advertised the show before it started. It’s a good show with a creep factor that would pull a lot more viewers in if only it got sufficient PR and a better timeslot. In terms of story-telling, I’d like to see something about Cassie’s past, seeing how she came to live with Tom and his husband; and maybe even more backstory on Damien’s life.

Lisa: Ye s, Yes, Yes to consistency and regular episodes! I have no idea how the audience can grow when we have been getting an episode every two weeks. I am here for this show and truly enjoy it. I definitely would like to have more backstory on all of the characters, including Damien’s fiancée before she got in the coma. There are so many interesting things about this show besides the “case of the week” murders. I look forward to next week!
