Good Witch Recap: “The Prince”

By  |

Sunday night’s episode of Good Witch on the Hallmark Channel found Cassie and Sam back from their honeymoon, returning to their everyday lives.

Let’s take a look at what the main characters were up:

Cassie

Cassie was back at Bell, Book & Candle as well as at Grey House, where they had a new guest Henry, from a small country called Cordonia. Henry claimed he was simply looking for peace and quiet, striking up a friendship with town librarian Olivia, who was staying at Grey House while her home was being painted.

Soon enough, though, his true past was revealed by Vincent, Cassie’s foster brother, who not only recognized the country from which Henry hails but also recognized him. He’s a Prince, who has been “told” by his family’s tradition that he must marry a royal. Obviously Olivia was upset by his not telling her the truth. In order to win her favor back, he made an appearance at the library in his military attire, asking Olivia for a second chance.

Grace

She “landed” an internship with Abigail at the Middleton Mayor’s office where she ended up competing with private school student Luke for who could be a better intern. While they both proved their mettle, and how they could “one-up” the other, in the end they both seemed to be impressed with each other. Except Luke seemed to have an ulterior motive when he answered a call in the very last scene as he told the person on the other line that he’s “the Merriwick’s to trust him.” What is that all about?

Sam

He was back at work at the hospital, being visited by Patrick Taylor, an old rival from his time back in college. Patrick wasn’t just in Middleton to visit Sam, he needed Sam’s diagnostic expertise to determine what was causing his current health issue. He had been seen by five cardiologists with no success. Every test that was run turned out to be clear.

In the end it was actually Cassie who figured out what was ailing Patrick. He and his wife of 9 years were separated, and rather than having an actual medical condition, he was suffering from a broken heart.

Donovan and Abigail

The dueling mayors were still at it this time around with Donovan’s dad attempting to ruin the popular Middleton wishing well – the location of the Davenport and Merriwick curse. Of all things, Donovan’s dad wanted a country club built on that land. Abigail was having none of it, fighting Daddy Davenport. She impressed Donovan so much that he finally stood up to his dad, convincing him to donate the land back to Middleton or risk the wrath of Momma Davenport. He also learned just how much Abigail disliked being mayor of Middleton so he arranged for Martha’s house to be ceded back to Middleton allowing Martha to take back her job.

Elsewhere, Vincent and Stephanie went on their first date together; Martha hosted her first episode of her talk show; and the bistro held its first ever poetry-reading event.

How are you feeling about the new season of Good Witch? Are you liking where the characters are at in their lives? Do you want to see Abigail and Donovan become a couple?
