BLOOD & TREASURE: Highlights from “The Secret of Macho Grande”

By  |

A new episode of Blood & Treasure aired last night with lots of action for Danny and Lexi as they continue their searching for Cleopatra. Here is the synopsis for the episode:

A vital clue leads Danny and Lexi to a castle where the Germans may have hidden Cleopatra’s sarcophagus; Fabi rescues Dr. Castillo’s kidnapped assistant; Hardwick reveals information to Fabi and Gwen about others who are searching for Cleopatra.

Father Chuck
Last week NiceGirl Leah said how much of a fan she is of Father Chuck. I couldn’t agree more, and he confirmed his coolness factor, but quoting a Princess Bride line – “have fun stormin’ the castle” – as Danny and Lexi headed off to that castle in Bavaria in their attempt to track down Cleopatra. That was just priceless. He is a terrific character. After giving Danny such grief over the whole “macho grande” issue, I’m glad that Danny came clean to Lexi about what that meant. She is his macho grande. It’ll be interesting to see how that plays out in later episodes.

Shaw
NiceGirl Leah also expressed how much she loves Shaw in her coverage from last week. So. Do. I!!!! I missed seeing Shaw in this episode, but I’m hoping for a return of this intriguing, entertaining character.

Action
I love the action in this show! Last night’s episode did not disappoint especially at the end with Danny catching Lexi as Farouk pushed her into the freight elevator, and their trying to get out of the elevator before that ladder gave way, but then Lexi got tazed (was that Farouk’s men who did that to her), and then the ladder gave way sending Danny crashing to the bottom. I’m relieved he wasn’t hurt, but he’s pretty well stuck now.

Bruno and Farouk
I love both of these actors (Antonio Cupo and Oded Fehr respectively), but I DO NOT like their characters. I don’t trust Bruno especially after he killed one of his own; and Farouk, well he is the bad guy, need I say more! I can’t wait for them (Danny and Lexi that is) catch Farouk and I really want to know more about this brotherhood of which Bruno is a member, and just what the h*ll they are all about.

Simon Hardwick
I knew the show wouldn’t have James Callis (of Battlestar Galactica fame) in this episode without giving him more screen time than just that little bit in the two-hour debut; but now I have to wonder just what he is up to. He gave money to that guy who was killed by Bruno. To what end? Was he really kidnapped and held for a year by Farouk, or is that all a ruse? What does he really want?

Dr. Ana Castillo
After this episode, I also had the slight inkling that I’m now suspicious of her too. Since there seemed to be numerous characters with hidden agendas, what if she is somehow involved with Farouk after all? I don’t want that to be the case, but it certainly would turn things on its head, don’t you think?
