THE ROOKIE Roundtable: Caught Stealing

By  |

The Rookie was back with a new episode this week, which focused on:

The rookies become the prime suspects after it is discovered a large sum of money used in a drug bust has gone missing.

Let’s dig into the episode with our new feature SASSY: S(tupid), A(wesome), S(o) S(o) and Y(our Thoughts):

STUPID

Roz: I think the set-up of that much money going missing from the bust was a biggest clue that it wasn’t the boots at all. As Grey said, there’s no way that those three would get out $250,000. Had it been say $10,000 I’d believe the group did it more.

Rueben: Why did Chen get out of her car and run when she was cornered by all those guys? There had to be a better way to get out of that than running up into the hills of Griffith Park?

Leah: I’m a little annoyed with the rookies stole our money story line to begin with. Really? It’s a little tired to have money go missing, when it is obvious that isn’t what happened. Did anyone for a second think they had actually done it?

AWESOME

Roz: I always appreciate more of the Captain in an episode and she was such small, but mighty part of the plot.

Rueben: Even though I didn’t like that Chen ran up into the hills with those armed guys coming after her, I did like that she figured out that one of the guys took the money before the raid, recognizing him from their walk into the house. And, the Captain getting to take down the undercover cop who was in on taking the money.

Leah: Anytime we get the Captain doing her thing and showing why she is the Captain is awesome.

SO SO

Roz: All of the boots had some too black or too white views of the law and it didn’t need to be done in a way that made me want to scream about creme brulee.

Rueben: West being so strict on the rule of law verses the spirit of the law. He can’t be so by the book because at some point it’s going to come back to bite him in the ass. I guess I’m getting a little tired of his rigidness. At least he realized that detail about himself in the end, telling Lopez that he was sorry for being that way.

Leah: West being so by the book when he spent the first two or three episodes not even able to function in the street is ridiculous. If we were going by the book he should have been cut by now.

YOUR THOUGHTS

Roz: I hope that foray into grey areas of police work is going to set up something else in this season.

Rueben: So Chen gets a new apartment and has West help her clean up the crime scene. That’s one way to get a cheaper apartment in Los Angeles. I’m glad that Grey told Chen and Nolan that none of them thought that 3 rookies could get out of that house with all that money; at least he gave them that. This wasn’t a great episode, but it did keep my attention throughout.
