Women Behind the Scenes Spotlight: Christie Will Wolf

Today’s Women Behind the Scenes spotlight is shone on producer, writer and director Christie Will Wolf.

Christie was born in Blue Mountain, Ontario Canada. She attended the boarding school Trinity College for high school; and then she attended Emerson College in Boston, studying musical theatre and later earned a Bachelor of Arts from The College of Charleston (South Carolina) in theatre and art history. She also has a Master of Fine Arts in Film from the University of British Columbia.

After university, she appeared on stage across the United States before moving to Los Angeles to work as an actress and emerging director and writer. She split her time between Canada and Los Angeles during this time, and founded the first avant-garde black box theatre – The Beaumont Playhouse – in Vancouver.

Christie’s first short film Dysfunction, for which she wrote, produced and directed, came out in 2006. This led to her worked as an assistant to actor, producer, director Peter Berg and eventually worked for Paula Abdul in developing her reality show Hey Paula.

Over the next few years, she worked on a variety of projects including Christmas in Wonderland which starred Patrick Swayze and Tim Curry; Blonde and Blonder which starred Pamela Anderson and Denise Richard; Hollywood & Wine which starred David Spade and Norm McDonald; Boy Toy which starred Morgan Fairchild; and Holiday Heist which starred Lacey Chabert and Vivica A. Fox.

In 2009 [corrected date], her first feature film Slightly Single in L.A. – which she wrote, directed and co-producer and included Jenna Dewan, Lacey Chabert, Haylie Duff and Jonathan Bennett among its cast – came out on Netflix. The next few years she produced and directed films for Lifetime, UPTV and Hallmark such as Baby Boot Camp, A Cookie Cutter Christmas, Her Infidelity, Becoming Santa and So You Said Yes.

Over the last few years, she has served as an executive producer and/or director on films for networks like Hallmark Channel, UP TV and Lifetime on their films A Snow Capped Christmas; A Wish For Christmas; Harvest Love (the first movie for the Hallmark Channel that was entirely helmed by a female writer and director); Infidelity in Suburbia; A Dash of Love (which inspired Hallmark Crown Media to make a book based off the movie); Eat, Play, Love; A Holiday Trap; Christmas Solo; Killer Ending and Yes I Do.

Christie’s most recent films, for which she directed, include Poinsettias for Christmas and Mr. 365, which are airing on Lifetime and Passionflix (released on December 15) respectively. She is also in talks for her TV series KILTS and a murder mystery that she created with NBC Dateline correspondent Andrea Canning. She is also in active development on a film about a post-escape from Alcatraz; a true story, coming of age project called Crazy Sunshine and an epic music true story set in the 1970’s.

Christie lives on the West Coast between Los Angeles California and Vancouver where she is the proud single mom of two daughters.
