MURPHY BROWN: The Wheels on the Dog Go Round and Round {Recap}

By  |

Murphy Brown finds herself with a dog and what can’t go wrong with that?

See what Cara and I thought was old news and new news this week on Murphy Brown.

Old News

Cara: Murphy is such a sour grump sometimes, but it’s nice to see the softer side of her come out now and again….and again. Avery’s face when he found out they got a dog was so charming. I did wonder though, how has Murphy not heard of dog walking services and pet daycare? I mean, it’s DC after all.

Roz: I had forgotten that Murphy was so anti-pet until this episode, but it’s a good reminder of what she stood for. As a single mother, a dog is a real responsibility that doesn’t always mix well with a young kid. I’m now curious how she’s missed every app that tries to tell you there’s someone out there to walk your dog, but I think we needed to suspend our understanding of those services for the added laughs of Ben in the office.

New News

Cara: Taking a stand against the bad guys is not new to this show, but it’s the first time we’ve really seen Avery have to take a stand against the Wolf Network. I’m curious now where he’ll land. Perhaps we’ll see him move over to Murphy’s own network, now that he’s made his chops at Wolf.

Roz: Oh Avery! I appreciate the moral high ground on not reading the Wolf final thought, but oy this is bad news. He is the black sheep of Wolf and it’s more clear now. I do wonder if we’ll see Peter Gallagher’s Haggerty again? Because to see Avery vs Haggerty now after what Avery’s just pulled is more interesting than anything else I can think of right now.

Murphy Brown airs on Thursdays at 9:30PM on CBS. Check out all of our other coverage of Murphy Brown here.
