Blindspot Roundtable: Sous-Vide

By  |

On this week’s Blindspot, a tattoo leads to a hidden cache of creepy dolls that then ends up putting the entire team at risk from a deadly biological agent. Jane recruits an unwitting Boston to help her dastardly plan, and Zapata tries to prevent Madeline from kidnapping and torturing Reade.

By the way, Sous Vide means vacuum sealing food and then cooking slowly – sort of like quarantining the FBI and turning up the heat a bit?

Join the NiceGirls staff as they discuss the episode using our new feature SASSY: S(tupid), A(wesome), S(o) S(o) and Y(our Thoughts):

STUPID

Leah:

Cay: Oy, Kurt’s er…blindspot… when it comes to Jane is frustrating. I thought there for a minute that he was going to give up all his suspicions – thank goodness his ex noticed that she didn’t seem to care if he became infected!

Rueben: Yeah, when I realized that it was Weller’s worry over Jane’s health rather than suspicion about ANYTHING else that pissed me off. I am so sick of Remi too.

Roz: Can we ignore Jane and Weller for an episode? I have way more fun watching Patterson, Rich and Reade than the Jane/Remi and Weller drama!

Lisa: Remi/Jane! I’m so over it. Bring our Jane back please!

AWESOME

Rueben: I was actually pleased to see Allie back and a little surprised that it was she who Weller called about Jane. Rich and Patterson are just always my favorite parts anymore too.

Cay: Yay! A different, clever plot instead of another bomb! Served Jane right to get injected after she freaked out all those poor people and caused them to try to break the quarantine. There was a lot I liked about this episode – Rich and Patterson (always), Jane recruiting Boston without him realizing what was up, etc.

Roz: Haven’t we had a bottle episode before? But for one that had to be contained to the FBI offices, this was a great case. Those dolls were the creepiest things ever, but I get what their purpose was.

Lisa: RichDotCom as always! He was so great talking to the scientist after she was quarantined. I liked seeing his softer side. He is always my favorite!

SO SO

Cay: I’m getting impatient – I want more of a hint of what Zapata is up to. I just can’t imagine her going over to the dark side, but if Reade and Patterson can believe it, am I naïve? Obviously she still has feelings for Reade, but otherwise?? She’s pretty deep undercover if that’s the case!

Rueben: I have to agree that the whole Zapata storyline is getting boring. Has she gone bad or hasn’t she? Is she really that deep undercover or not? Why did Burke bring in this Claudia chick as competition for Zapata? I need some answers and then let’s close this up tight.

Roz: What is Zapata going to do when Reade gets questioned? There’s so much that we don’t know about this plot, but after four episodes shouldn’t we know something? Anything? Bueller? Madeline’s plan is so nebulous that it’s going to take more work for me to buy what’s up than we’re getting right now.

Lisa: I agree with Cay and no you aren’t naïve. I definitely feel that there is a reason for her deep undercover gig, but they are taking too long to give us a clue. If she did turn to the dark side, it wouldn’t make sense. I’ve never been a fan of Zapata but she is smarter than that.

YOUR THOUGHTS

Cay: I think that this was my favorite episode of the season so far – several interesting plotlines were advanced, the plot was more creative than it has been, Jane got to continue to be very evil, etc. I did happen to think about Avery – we haven’t seen her since Jane lost her memory again – how would she cover if Avery were to show up now?

Rueben: Oh, I hadn’t thought about what Jane would do about Avery. That would turn the fire up on a little bit wouldn’t it? What are Zapata and Claudia going to do to Reade? What more is Jane going to have Boston do for her? And, now that Jane has told her Roman hallucination to leave her alone, does this mean her zip poisoning is getting worse?

Roz: Is it bad that until Cay brought it up, I figured Avery was a long-forgotten part of this show? Will we need to see her again? Is she pointless with Madeline running HCI?

Lisa: This episode kicked ass and the writing was great. It was so refreshing not to have a predictable plot. I hope we have more episodes like this!

Cay's family thinks her obsession with pop culture is "not normal". Normal is boring!
