Women Behind the Scenes Spotlight: Nicole Snyder
Today’s Women Behind the Scenes spotlight is shone on American TV writer and executive producer Nicole Snyder.
Nicole began writing together with her producing-writing partner Eric Charmelo on the 2004 TV movie I Do (But I Don’t), which starred Denise Richards and Dean Cain, based on the novel by Cara Lockwood. They followed that up with the 2005 TV movie Confessions of a Sociopathic Social Climber, which starred Jennifer Love Hewitt and Eureka alum Colin Ferguson.
In 2007, Nicole [along with Eric] joined the writer’s room for the John Waters hosted series Love You to Death, which focused on stories about marriages that ended with one spouse murdering the other.
Four seasons later, Nicole [and, once again, Eric] joined the writing staff of the long-running series Supernatural for the show’s 6th season. It was then that Nicole [and Eric] created the short-lived Sarah Michelle Gellar led drama Ringer and then the duo moved on to the writing staff of the short-lived NBC drama Do No Harm that starred Steven Pasquale.
In 2013, Nicole – along with Eric – returned to the Supernatural writing staff and became co-executive producers, staying there through the show’s 11th season before moving on to their next projects.
They worked as consulting producers on the debut season of NBC’s thriller Midnight, Texas, which they helped develop for the network and this year, Nicole – and Eric – are serving as the showrunners and executive producers of the second season, which just got underway this past Friday.
The next big project for Nicole – and, of course, Eric – will be the horror-thriller-drama hybrid The Perfection, which they wrote along with Richard Shepard, and which has been acquired by Netflix to be released sometime next year. The movie stars Girls alum Allison Williams, veteran actor Steven Weber, Supernatural baddie Alaina Huffman and break-out Dear White People star Logan Browning.
