RECAP: Good Witch Finale: “Tossing the Bouquet”
With only a few days remaining before Sam and Cassie’s wedding on Good Witch, all the last minute preparations were being put together by the happy couple. But, unfortunately, a few things got in the way as they waited to get to the altar.
The official synopsis of the episode entitled “Tossing the Bouquet” follows:
“After a series of unfortunate events, Sam and Cassie have to accept that their wedding might not be as perfect as planned; in light of her almost-romance with Phil, Abigail’s quest to put down roots lands her a new job as the mayor of Middleton.”
Last Minute Prep
While Cassie and Sam were still deciding where to go on their honeymoon, other last minute preparations were being arranged for their wedding. The flowers that Cassie wanted were, sadly, destroyed; one important ingredient for a special dish that Cassie wanted added to their reception menu didn’t arrive as expected and even Nick and Grace were having difficulty putting together their speeches for the wedding.
Blairsville vs. Middleton
The dislike of neighboring town Blairsville has been an ongoing issue for Mayor Martha Tinsdale. The latest revelation made during the episode that the side of the street where her home is located is actually within the boundary of Blairsville was particularly troubling for her. Because of that newly discovered fact, it was necessary for Martha to be stripped of her long-held title of Mayor.
Mayor Abigail Pershing
Cassie’s cousin Abigail joined the City Council specifically to eliminate an issue of an encroaching tree branch in front of her store’s sign. At her first council meeting, Abigail learned that the position of President of the City Council was open; a position which would allow her even greater authority to get that blasted branch out of her store’s way. But the bigger surprise was that since Martha could no longer serve as Martha because of her home’s location she was automatically “promoted” to the role of Mayor. Oh boy is Middleton in for an interesting experience with Abigail as Mayor.
Abigail has obviously decided to put down roots in Middleton, by not only getting involved in local politics but also putting in an offer for Sam’s house; but what will she do with the offer made to her by Phil, who asked her to go to Portland with him?
A Change of Plans
Stephanie’s sister Emma was in town for a visit; and it was not only revealed that she was engaged to be married in a few months but also that she and her fiancée were both Marines. Given that fact, it wasn’t really surprising when Emma and her fiancée were told that they were being deployed to two different locations where they would each serve for one year, putting quite the kibosh on their nuptials. Not surprisingly, though, was how quickly Sam and Cassie silently agreed to let Emma and her fiancée to have their wedding date so the couple could be married before their deployment.
What may have come off as surprising (but shouldn’t have been) was how the episode ended with Cassie and Sam visiting the location where Emma and her fiancée were to get married in a few months’ time. Not only was that location the very place Cassie envisioned for her and Sam’s wedding, but also the date was picture perfect too: Halloween, Cassie’s favorite time of year. In fact, with that reveal laid out it became clear that Cassie should have just picked Halloween in the first place.
Did you see that switch coming (swapping out the wedding dates)? What do you think Abigail will decide to do? What kind of wedding do you think Cassie and Sam will have since it will take place during Halloween? Please share your thoughts below.
Good Witch will return to the Hallmark Channel in October with its annual two-hour Halloween movie.
