The Ups and Downs of Claws “Russian Navy”

By  |

This week Claws set up some new directions and finally brought Zlata and Ruval together (though something makes me think that it’s happened before). There were some big ups for Desna this week, but Jenn may be nearing rock bottom.

Ups

Desna and Ruval are leveling up in a big way. After Desna meets Madame Ruval, she had concerns about Madame’s dominance in Ruval’s life. But, after an awkward dinner with Zlata, Desna is encouraged to take control of her relationship, and it seems to have worked.

The ladies hold a salon-tervention and force Bryce to talk with Jenn, or rather debate. The debate is hilarious and gives both Jenn and Bryce a chance to air their grievances, plus we get to see Polly do a pretty entertaining Judge Judy-esque moderator.

Dean is going to be one of Polly’s boys, and, yes, that is a definite positive for me personally, but Dean is doing more with his own life and working on his own needs and aspirations. Plus, Virginia’s moving in! Virginia, Desna, and Jenn in the same dysfunctional household is bound to be a beautiful mess. Although, it does seem that Virginia is starting to understand some of the challenges of a life with Dean.

Downs

We all know that eventually Desna’s gonna find out that Ruval is not what he seems. I have suspicions after this week’s introduction of the young Haitian orphans. A character named Madame is just a little too on the nose if you ask me (especially since Dean spoke out against human trafficking in Sarasota last week). I know we saw Ruval in scrubs last week, but I fear there’s something sinister happening just off camera.

Polly can’t seem to really connect with Marnie. But, when Marnie reaches out about a family photo, it’s Polly’s turn to shy away. I think having a young woman around the house might bring up some bad memories for Polly.

Jenn is way down this week after finding her husband and mother in a compromising position. She got to speak her mind in the debate, but it ended with harsh words from Bryce. Now she’s fallen off the wagon, and it looks like she risks losing her daughters. Maybe that and Desna’s tough talk will help her get her mind right.

Somewhere in Between

Zlata continues to reign supreme over Uncle Daddy. She’s taken his connection in law enforcement and humiliated him by making him lick her boot in front of her inner circle. Something makes me think that Uncle Daddy isn’t as opposed to that as one might seem though, since we know he likes a little domination. I guess we’ll see where this goes.

Claws airs on Sundays at 9/8c on TNT.

Cara spends way too much time thinking about subtext, and the puns are always intended. When not watching TV, she can generally be found with her nose in a book.
