My Top 13 Choices for June

By  |

The 2017-2018 TV season is nearly at an end and summer TV is almost upon us. With that thought in mind, I selected my top choices for next month’s programming.

SUMMER LOVIN’

The following movies are part of the June Weddings over at the Hallmark Channel. Three of them are sequels to previous made-for-TV movies and one is brand new.

Cindy Busby and Ryan Paevey are back as school teacher Elizabeth Scott and businessman/philanthropist Donovan Darcy in Marrying Mr. Darcy – the sequel to the 2016 Unleashing Mr. Darcy. The movie will debut on June 2 at 9 PM.

When Calls the Heart stars Pascale Hutton and Kavan Smith are back in The Perfect Bride: Wedding Bells, playing marriage counselor turned fitness instructor Molly White and wedding photographer Nick Dyson. The movie will debut on June 9 at 9 PM.

Josie Bissett and Jack Wagner are back as Olivia and Mick for Wedding March 4: Something Old, Something New, as they help a newly engaged couple plan the wedding of their drams. The movie will debut on June 23 at 9 PM.

The new June Wedding movie Love at First Dance will air on June 16 at 9 PM, starring Becca Tobin from Glee and Niall Matter from When Calls the Heart and Eureka as a dance instructor who is hired to teach Manhattan’s former Most Eligible Bachelor how to dance in time for his upcoming, extravagant society wedding.

WELCOME TO THE FOLD

EPIX will debut the new spy drama Deep State on June 17 at 9 PM, which will star Mark Strong (Kingsman franchise), an ex-spy whose past comes back to haunt him when he’s summoned away from his new life to avenge the death of his estranged son Harry, but he soon finds himself at the heart of a covert intelligence war.

Kevin Costner and an impressive ensemble cast will appear in the new drama Yellowstone that will debut on the Paramount Network (formerly Spike TV) on June 20 at 9 PM. Costner stars as John Dutton, who controls the largest contiguous ranch in the United States, under constant attack by those it borders – land developers, an Indian reservation, and America’s first National Park. The cast includes Cole Hauser (Rogue and Pitch Black), Dave Annable (Brothers & Sisters), Gil Birmingham (Siren and the Twilight franchise), Gretchen Mol (Boardwalk Empire), Ian Bohen (Teen Wolf), Jill Hennessy (Crossing Jordan), Josh Lucas (Sweet Home Alabama), Kelly Reilly (Black Box and Sherlock Holmes), Luke Grimes (Brothers & Sisters), Michaela Conlin (Bones) and Wes Bentley (American Horror Story).

On June 21, ABC will debut the new summer series Take Two at 10 PM, starring Rachel Bilson (Hart of Dixie) and Eddie Cibrian (Third Watch) in this detective series that follows Sam Swift (Bilson), the former star of a hit cop series whose epic breakdown is broadcast to the public and sends her to rehab. Desperate to restart her career, she talks her way into shadowing lone-wolf private investigator Eddie Valetik (Cibrian) as research for a potential comeback role. Though Eddie resents the babysitting gig, high-spirited Sam uses the skills she learned as an actor playing a cop and proves herself to be surprisingly valuable.
