BLINDSPOT Roundtable: In Memory

By  |

Let’s start by saying Blindspot was renewed for another season. Thank goodness! This finale was a crazy intense ride.

Roman is dead. Are we sorry to see him go? How shocked were you with who shot him and why?
Roz: Not really sad to see him go because he was so out there this season, if I’m really impressed with Blake killing him because it opens up so much we don’t know about her.
Rueben: Part of me is sad to see Luke Mitchell gone from the show because I really like the actor; but to see Roman gone after all he has done, not so much. I had a feeling when Blake pulled up to Roman’s location that something was amiss, but when she said Roman instead of Tom – that was the moment I knew things were not going to end well.
Cay: I will definitely miss Luke Mitchell – the Roman character was well developed this season and I enjoyed watching him decieve everyone and be so charming doing it. All goes to show what you can get away with based on good looks and some charm – scary! We can’t say Blake killing him wasn’t appropriately foreshadowed and honestly, I thought it was another of his hallucinations at first. I like that he and Jane had made peace with each other at the end, and that she wasn’t the one who had to pull the trigger.
Lisa: I agree with Cay. I was happy to see that Roman and Jane made peace at the end. It was a touching moment. I will definitely miss looking at the hotness of Luke Mitchell but it was time for Roman to go. I feel like we will still see him though. Maybe in flashbacks and hallucinations so we can still see Luke sometimes.

Blake and Zapata? What the…..what?!?! This is going to be an interesting team.
Roz: See this was great! Zapata must have a longer game. I’m not going to be shocked if she’s still on the CIA bankroll because they wanted Campbell gone and Blake seems manageable without Roman and Dad.
Rueben: My mouth hit the floor when they made that reveal. And, I’m still trying to figure out just why and how that came about and where things could possibly go from there. I’m stumped.
Cay: I’m with Roz and assuming that the whole blow up with the CIA was just to get her deeper cover. Unless she’s gone rogue on her own?? I also seem to have underestimated Blake. But will she use her newfound agency for good or evil?
Lisa: I don’t know if it was my Spidey senses but I had a feeling that Blake was working with Zapata I just didn’t know how it was possible. Zapata took her firing from the CIA a little too calmly for me. I knew something was up and I can’t wait to see where they go with it next season.

Jane….er…..Remi! How do you feel about Jane being the big bad next season? (at least to start) I mean, that smirk????
Roz: She’s going to find out that all those people she wanted to reach out to are dead, so I don’t know how long she’ll be the big bad, though I love how many twists we got towards the end of this episode.
Rueben: Yeah, that smirk was actually a little chilling. This was yet another twist that made my mind spin after all the other twists up to that point. I don’t want to see her be the new big bad for very long, but I have to wonder how the writers are going to play this whole scenario out?
Cay: So this flashback is part of the ZIP toxicity, I would assume. But it does make things very interesting – how long will she be able to keep the rest of the team oblivious and what will she do when she learns that her handlers are dead?
Lisa: now this had my chin on the floor! I did not see this coming and that’s smirk at the end of the episode was everything! This truly was a hell of an episode!

Anything else jaw dropping I missed?
Roz: Do they get all these other drives to save Jane?
Rueben: Um, Weller seemingly on his deathbed. WTH?!
Cay: Um, yeah, I don’t know if they did some aggressive editing there or what. One minute he was learning the truth about her condition and then next she’s visiting him on his deathbed? Some transition could have been useful there, although maybe it makes it more suspenseful. It just made it harder for me to determine if what we were watching was real, or a dream, or a hallucination.
Lisa: Yeah, I hope they don’t kill Weller and having that switch was another twist. Right when we were comfortable that well or was okay then bam he’s on his Deathbed. Also I’m not a fan of the Zapata and Reade in the bed. I still don’t trust her.

Overall comments:
Cay: I thought this was a very good episode – exciting, had some closure, but opened up some very interesting plot points for next season
Lisa: Bravo! Way to close this season out and keep us interested for next season. I’m glad to know it’s not going to be the same thing.
