Thursday Three with Jamie Chung
May is Asian Pacific American Heritage month, so we’re spotlighting some of our favorite women on TV with that heritage. You can read all the entries in the series here.
Born and raised in San Francisco, California, Jamie Chung is a second generation Korean-American. Jamie launched her career by managing something few people have accomplished: She turned a gig on MTV’s The Real World into a legitimate acting career. Clearly, Jamie had a plan, and we shouldn’t be surprised by her strategic moves – in addition to her acting talent and beauty, Jamie holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the University of California at Riverside.
THE GIFTED
Currently, you can find Jamie staring on Fox’s The Gifted as Blink, a pretty badass mutant with the ability to open portals. That’s a handy superpower when, for example, the Sentinels are chasing you and you need to be somewhere else, fast. We had the chance to chat with Jamie at Comic Con last year and she could not be nicer – watch the video from that interview here.
GOTHAM
Jamie was also in the third season of Gotham as Valerie Vale.
Gotham Gazette’s newest hire, Valerie is a crackerjack reporter dead set on uncovering the truth behind Indian Hill. Confident and dogged, she will do anything to get the scoop, and soon sets her sights on Gordon, who she believes is the key lead in her story.
ONCE UPON A TIME
I was introduced to Jamie when she played Mulan for 12 episodes over multiple seasons of Once Upon a Time. As a huge fan of the original Disney movie Mulan, it was fantastic to watch Jamie Chung bring the character to life.
