Lucifer The Last Heartbreak aka Unhappy Threesomes
Flashback Backstory. What did you think about Cain’s 1958 flashback sequence? Did it fill in any gaps for you in understanding his death wish?
Lisa: I thought it was cool. I love flashback scenes. It did give me some insight as to why he is so closed off to letting someone get close to him.
Karen: I enjoyed it. It’s obvious that it’s the reason he wants to die. He’s tired of losing everyone he loves over and over. The perspective from the connected character was unique and super interesting.
Mynda: I agree with you both. Love backstories and enjoyed the perspective. It made me sympathize with Cain in a way that I hadn’t connected with before.
This week we see Luci eating his heart out over Cain and Cloe’s possible new romance, Ameniadie’s unresolved Mommy issues and Maze’s selfish self destructive pain spiral. I continually enjoy how the writers often weave our own common insecurities and issues into the cast story line who then, hold up a mirror for us all to learn. Do any of you notice these gems, or is it a non issue for you?
Lisa: I notice the gems and I think in a lot of ways, that is what makes these characters relatable. It was a trip seeing Luci all flustered over his relationship with Chloe’s possibly changing because of her relationship with Pierce. But Maze pissed me off this week. Nobody makes Trixie cry! Grrr…she needs to get her shit together.
Karen: Maze is the absolute WORST this week. She crossed a line and I honestly don’t know how she’s coming back from that betrayal of Trixie. Meanwhile, I think Luci was more reserved than normal over Chloe and Pierce. Not that he’s accepted it, he’s so upset, but he’s not projecting it as much as he has been. Also, I was just gutted over Amenadiel’s pain when he realized Charlotte wasn’t mum! Charlotte anymore. And I totally grab onto the gems – when they pull those out and when the writers do that, it means they’ve excelled.
Mynda: I’m glad you both noticed and enjoyed Life Lessons Lucifer Style. It’s amazing to me how the writers manage to have you laughing one minute and the next tearing up over a sudden profound truth. It is my favorite part about the series.
Okay. That’s it. Maze has gone one step too far. Hurting Trixie is NOT acceptable. What say you?
Lisa: Grrr…as I said, she pissed me off! She really needs to get over it because I am not a fan of this Maze. I’m ready to see her kicking ass and taking names not pouting over Dr. Linda and Amenadial (who she really doesn’t want).
Karen: Maze needs to get fixed. Period. I’m over it. Charlotte’s storyline is great now, I totally agree. I also loved that marriage episode, so fun! I like Pierce more now that I know he’s Cain because he fits into the mythos. It also seems to have “woken” up Tom Welling a bit. I also liked the solo episodes at the start of the season, although I know I’m in the minority.
Mynda: I am also ready for the old Maze return especially as Lisa mentioned before, when she really doesn’t want him to begin with. I love the creative way the writers weave in absurd scenarios for the cast members. I also suddenly care about Cain now that I’ve seen a bit of history on him.
Mel mentioned last week she wanted to see Luci and Chloe and ultimately get together. If you had a request of the writers, what would you like to see happen?
Lisa: Hmmm…the first thing that comes to mind is more Trixie. That’s all I got.
Karen: I am DYING to see Ella tied into the mythos. I want her to have some connection. Maybe I’m projecting, but PLEASE let her be special! And Chloe absolutely needs to know about Lucifer. I’m almost thinking she’s at the point where she doesn’t want to believe he’s the real Lucifer, because otherwise it’s just not believable. Let her in already!
Mynda: I’ve felt for some time now Chloe somehow magically remaining in the dark is absurd. Come on already! Karen, it never occurred to me to have Ella tied into mythos. YES, PLEASE. I for one, would also really like an storyline where Dan is not treated as the punchline for everyone’s jokes. His character deserves better.
