OZ COMIC-CON Melbourne 2017: Our Top 5 Picks

Now in its sixth year, the Melbourne component of Oz Comic-Con is happening next weekend and we couldn’t be more excited. Over the last couple of years, Oz CC has been held in five times each year all around Australia in capital cities featuring different guests from TV, Film, Animation, Comics and Publishing and Cosplay. The Perth and Adelaide events were earlier this year and the Brisbane and Sydney events will be held in September. The Melbourne event is next weekend July 1-2 at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre and we’re pretty excited for the event. Here are our top five picks of what we are most looking forward to…

5. Checking out the art
One of our favorite things about any Comic-Con is paying a visit to the different exhibitors and seeing all the amazing creations and art available. Getting your hands on a one-of-a-kind item or piece of art is a highlight for any fangirl or fanboy, so we’re looking forward to seeing the exhibitors and also paying a visit to Artists Alley.

4. Keegan Allen
Pretty Little Liars star Keegan is one of the more recent guest announcements and with the PLL series finale airing this week, the timing of his appearance couldn’t be more perfect! We’re sure we’ll have plenty of questions to ask once the finale airs on Tuesday (or Wednesday if you’re in Australia).

3. Jason Momoa
Whether you know him as Aquaman, Khal Drogo, Conan,or Ronon Dex just to name a few, Momoa is a frequent guest at the Oz CC events – in fact I happened to see him at the Melbourne event in 2015 and he was definitely one of the highlights, despite me not having seen any of his projects at that point. He is a delight and a joy to watch/listen to, so whether you’ve watched him in anything or not, so meeting him during his photo or autograph opportunities is sure to be a popular choice among attendees.

2. Alyson Hannigan and Tom Lenk’s mini Buffy the Vampire Slayer reunion
Can you believe it’s been 20 years since Buffy the Vampire Slayer first aired? Crazy right?! This year, Oz Comic-Con Melbourne are bringing out Alyson Hannigan aka Willow Rosenberg and Tom Lenk, who played Andrew Welles on both BtVS and Angel. On Saturday, there’ll be an Alyson Hannigan panel (so you know you can also ask about other projects she’s been involved in like How I Met Your Mother) and on Sunday a panel with both Hannigan and Lenk. We can’t wait to hear about their experiences from their time on the show. There’ll also be meet and greet ops with the two stars over the weekend.

1. iZombie stars Aly Michalka, Rahul Kohli and Robert Buckley
If you’re a regular visitor to NiceGirlsTV.com then you’ll know that we’re HUGE iZombie fans so imagine our delight when we found out that Oz Comic-Con Melbourne was getting not one, not two but THREE main cast members from the show! Team Humans aka  Aly Michalka (who plays Peyton Charles), Rahul Kohli (who plays Ravi Chakrabarti) and Robert Buckley (who plays Major Lilywhite) will all be attending and with the season finale airing this week, we can’t wait to discuss the show with them! (Not to mention seeing the bromance between Kohli and Buckley live.)
