CONVICTION: Three Illegal Actions in “Dropping Bombs” {Recap}
Conviction continues to tackle difficult and sensitive cases. This week, Hayes Morrison (Hayley Atwell) wants to investigate the bombing of a mosque that killed the imam and three of his colleagues on the ten year anniversary of September 11th. Convicted was a former Army officer who turned to ideas of ridding the US of Muslims. But did he do it? That’s what the CIU finds out this week.
While they’re in the mist of investigating the case, the group engages in or uncovers an illegal action, and the biggest illegal action of all is uncovered.
Corruption and Illegal Searches
Because of how high-profile the death in a mosque was to New York after 9/11, the city’s counter-terrorism unit had been investigating Rodney Landon (Mike Doyle) and finds evidence to support his conviction through an illegal search. The problem is, that any and all evidence found after that should be illegal because of how it was obtained. CIU has to wrestle with whether or not to divulge that information as they find out that Landon isn’t responsible for the bombing.
Conner Wallace (Eddie Cahill) had been spending all of his time trying to convince Hayes to avoid this case, but she pressed on because she believes in both righting wrongs and being contradictory to conventions of her family.
Assault
Sam Spencer (Shawn Ashmore) doesn’t love the idea of Landon going free when he’s such a horrible guy (I don’t blame him at all), but to make sure that Landom still stays in prison after being freed from the murder charges, Spencer suggests to a fellow inmate that Landon’s been snitching on others in Sing Sing. The inmate who learns that Landon’s supposedly been doing then beats up him, and Landon fights back, hurting that other inmate on camera. With evidence of a beating on camera, Landon won’t be out of jail for a long time.
Hayes’ Promotion
A dogged reporter, with whom Sam Spencer has been speaking, finally reveals the story of how Hayes found her way to lead the CIU. What will the rest of the country (and New York) think with a former first daughter who has a cocaine problem leading an important unit in the city?
Conviction airs Mondays at 10PM on ABC.
