INTERVIEW: Jodi Lynn Thomas

Jodi Lynn Thomas spoke with us about her role on last nights episode of Preacher. If you missed it you can watch it here.

She has worked alongside a number of big names and has so many great projects in the works. Our interview with her is below. You will want to follow along with her career – it is going to be one to watch.

Q. What can you tell us about your character in Preacher?
Pearl is oddly a symbol of innocence in the world of Preacher. Even though her character is a Toadvine girl, she represents the heart in a world of sin. She is naive, optimistic and a light-hearted presence when she appears on screen. She often brings comedic relief.

Q. You have done a mix of TV and movies – what do you like about each medium?
Every set I have been on has been very different. They all change based on the people working on them. My favorite thing about either medium is that when you are there long enough it begins to feel like a second home.

Q. Preacher is based on a comic book – were you a comic book reader? Are you now?
Not really… hopefully the comic book fans don’t start liking me less because of that answer! I have always wanted to be a comic book reader, but I never really devoted the time and energy to get started. I love watching them adapted to television shows and movies. I am a huge fan of ‘The Walking Dead’. I did just start reading the Preacher comic book. Technically, it is my first comic book. Let’s see if that changes me!

Q. What is your favorite fan interaction?
I don’t have any great stories yet! I don’t have a lot of people recognizing me from the streets or anything yet. I have had people ask for photos before, and I’m like “me? Why?”

Q. Do you have a favorite charity?
Animal Humane is where I got my puppy, so I am a big fan of them. I love anything that helps animals and children. I also started a scholarship with my friend Jason Hill that helps people with low income continue their education and training in the arts, so that is the main one I am focusing on right now.

Q. What project are you working on next?
I have a film called ‘Priceless‘ that is coming out this year. I love my role in it. The film stars Joel Smallbone, Bianca Santos, Jim Parrack and David Koechner. Hopefully you will all check it out!
