Good Witch Recap: ‘What’s Your Secret?”

By  |

It would seem that keeping secrets in the quaint town of Middleton on the Hallmark Channel drama Good Witch is easier said than done at least where keeping the lid on Martha Tinsdale’s surprise 30th Anniversary party is concerned.

Martha’s husband Tom paid a visit to Cassie’s shop – and as always she seemed to know exactly what he needed not only for his health but his home life as well. He let it slip that their big anniversary was coming up and one thing led to another with Cassie offering to play a big surprise for this illustrious Mayor.

The only problem in that plan: Stephanie, the local café owner who Cassie enlisted to help with the catering. She just couldn’t seem to keep her mouth closed, ending up telling one too many people about the big surprise event. But in the end it wasn’t Stephanie who let it slip to the woman of the hour – that honor actually went to Cassie’s cousin Abigail.

Nick is still very intent on going to London for a semester abroad, but he can’t seem to tell his dad exactly WHY he wants to go; and he is having an even harder time formulating the required essay. I have a feeling that given what little he knows about London – “it’s cool and parent-free” does not a semester abroad make – he is probably not going to end up on the approved list of participants.

And, given that his dad Sam is looking into a pretty amazing lake house – thanks to a friendly nudge from Cassie – Nick just might discover that going to London can’t compare to having a get-away place where he and his dad can create new memories.

Elsewhere, Tara seemed to be bored with being home so she decided to take up an adult art class for beginners where she met a new friend named Donna. And this, of course, led Tara to wanting to have Brandon met Donna and her husband Chad. Her solution: inviting them over for a dinner party.

As for that loose-lipped Stephanie, now that she and Ben are back together and she seemed so excited about catering Martha and Tom’s wedding anniversary party, Ben suggested that she reconsider opening the catering business that she was so intent on opening (before Abigail got in the way, of course). She seemed very reticent against it, but Ben surprised her by taking her to an empty storefront that he found for her AND he also found her an investor.

Sam is still being courted by Hillcrest Hospital, which wants him to become their Chief of Staff. Despite his telling them repeatedly that he is not interested, their representative showed up at his Middleton practice and convinced to tour the hospital.

And, then there is Grace who sees everyone else moving on to new things: Nick with London, Sam with Hillcrest Hospital, sister Lori off in Los Angeles on assignment and Tara and Brandon having baby on their minds – she seems not only a little lost but also missing the days when they were all together.

Oh, and let’s not forget that Cassie’s old college friend John. He asked her to help him weed through resumes of people who want to work on the funded dig that he won; and he not only brought her favorite food to the shop as a surprise but also convinced her to go hiking.

One more thing: is there a ghost at Grey House? That would seem to be what the B&B’s new guest Dan believed. But since he revealed to Cassie and George that he recently had some kind of procedure done, maybe what he is seeing has more to do with his health than anything else.

What do you think is really going on with Grace? Do you think that John will break Cassie down for more than just friendship? Will Nick actually go to London or will his dad win out with the options that the lake house can offer? Do you think Stephanie will move forward with her catering business? What do you think Martha will do now that Abigail slipped up on the surprise party plans?

To find out what happens next, make sure to tune in to the Hallmark Channel for the next new episode of Good Witch on Sunday, June 5 at 9/8c.
