Weekly Update
Women of the Week
It’s that time of the week – we watch all the shows and share with you our favorite women on TV this week.
Marina Squerciati as Burgess on Chicago PD
Nominated by Ange: Out of the Chicago PD team, Marina Squerciati’s Kim Burgess is one of the most gentler characters. That all changed this week when she and her partner were shot at and her partner was injured. Without hesitation, we saw Burgess run after the culprit and fire several bullets at them, When she was then questioned over her actions, she never once wavered in her beliefs nor did she let anyone make her think differently about herself. It was so great to see Marina Squerciati tackle a heavier storyline and a more harder version of Burgess – she nailed it. I can’t wait to see where this takes Burgess because this whole incident has changed her.
Amy Acker as Root from Person of Interest
Nominated by Karen: I honestly never thought I’d be doing anything of the sort, because I started off absolutely LOATHING her character, but she was a stand-out this week. Amy got to play all of the main characters when The Machine glitched, which was hilarious – and seeing her yin to Finch’s yang while they were confined to the abandoned subway station was adorbs. Flawless this week. Completely flawless. I’ll be sorry to see this show end it’s run this year.
Seconded by Rueben: I want to second Karen’s nomination of Amy Acker.
And Cay: I have a major girl crush on Amy. She really brings it every week as Root. The character’s a psychopath who used to be an assassin (and still won’t hesitate to kill someone if needed), but she makes her believable and even lovable – the friendly psychopath next door!
And Jan: I’m definitely onboard with the Amy Acker crew. Her playing all the roles during the machines glitch was awesome, especially her as Finch. She had a huge chance to shine in this episode and she knocked it out of the park!
