Best Moments from Gotham’s “Unleashed”

With the second season of Gotham close to coming to an end (only 2 more episodes left), I wanted to highlight what I consider the best moments of the recent episode, “Unleashed.”

GOTHAM: L-R: Guest star BD Wong, Ben McKenzie and Donal Logue, in the "Wrath of the Villains: Unleashed" episode of GOTHAM airing Monday, May 2 (8:00-9:01 PM ET/PT) on FOX. ©2016 Fox Broadcasting Co. Cr: Jeff Neumann/FOX

Harvey in Charge. In the wake of Captain Barnes recovering in the hospital, the cops of the GCPD need someone to lead their pack to bring down Galavan/Azrael. And that person is Harvey Bullock. His “let’s get him, whatever it takes” speech was moving in his own off-the-wall way. But hey, I’d follow his lead.

Butch and Penguin meet again. With Tabitha laying unconscious in the hospital, Butch pours his heart out over her bedside, unaware of Penguin’s arrival, who really just ruins the moment. The bird is there to convince Butch to take down Galavan (again). Penguin, who’s over this “uber-villain nonsense,” delivered the best line of the night. In regards to Galavan/Azrael, “If he wanted to wear leather, he should just wear leather. This is Gotham city, no one cares, right?”

Nygma and Selina meeting in the vents at Arkham. He’s trying to get out, spooked by what he saw in the basement. She wants in to save her friend Bridget, who was sent to Arkham. “Forensics guy.” “Street trash girl.” Their terms of endearments are so cute. And Nygma asking Selina is she can pick a lock is priceless. Though Nygma does make it out of the vent shaft, he’s immediately greeted by the police. Bummer. Selina finds her friend in Arkham, but she now goes by the name Firefly and wants to set her on fire. Yikes!

GOTHAM: L-R: Sean Pertwee and James Frain in the "Wrath of the Villains: Unleashed" episode of GOTHAM airing Monday, May 2 (8:00-9:01 PM ET/PT) on FOX. ©2016 Fox Broadcasting Co. Cr: Jeff Neumann/FOXTaking down a god in Gotham. With Azrael’s focus shifted from killing Gordon to killing Bruce, Alfred and Gordon must protect the boy. First, Alfred and Galavan/Azrael have a showdown at Wayne Manor, coincidentally while Bruce and Alfred are attempting to lock it down. Alfred puts up a good fight, but is tossed out the window. Bruce tries to divert Azrael, and then Gordon arrives in time to riddle Azrael with bullets. But of course, that can’t keep down Azrael. And just as Azrael’s rising, Penguin and Butch show up and save the day by taking him out with a rocket launcher. “You’re welcome,” says Penguin, and they are on their way. So that’s how you take out a villain who’s convinced he’s an immortal god.

Next week, the moment we’ve all been waiting for—Fish Mooney is back, bitch.
