BLINDSPOT: “Swift Hardhearted Stone” {Roundtable}
Let’s have another top FBI Most Wanted in the mix for this week, but this time we are also adding a small child into everything else on this week’s Blindspot. This week’s tattoo is about a Syrian family with strong ties to terrorism, as if the stakes weren’t high enough this close to the end of the season.
1. What did you make of Maya at first sight? Did your opinion change over the episode?
Roz: I’m a bit sad that the episode with an Autistic character aired just after Autism Awareness month, but I think she was a good way to get into the world of terrorism without having to show us all the big bad guy who wants to cause the US that much harm.
Lisa: I was totally amazed by her. The actress that played was incredible. All I can say is I wanted her to be protected more than any other character we’ve seen. My feelings stayed the same throughout the episode and I breathed a huge sigh of relief when she hugged her grandmother at the end.
Leah: I didn’t see the Autistic twist coming at first, but I like that a character that verbally said nothing managed to be so integral to the case. It was an interesting way to tie a case to a tattoo.
2. On our ever changing scale of bad guys, where do you put the Under Secretary of Homeland Security Franklin?
Roz: He’s pretty high up there in terms of being duplicitous, but I sort of want to know what exactly he was planning beyond just funding terrorists.
Lisa: I’d say he is near the top of the list, but it is hard to really judge without knowing what his plan was. He was definitely evil though.
Leah: I’m just curious how many bad agents from other agencies they plan on introducing. I would have liked a little better explanation of his shenanigans. He sent a hit squad to take out FBI agents and a child for heaven sakes.
3. Romance is in the air, yet again. What do we think of Patterson and the good Doctor Borden?
Roz: I’m on board with this, as of now. It’s so hard to tell if I want romance to muddle the action and tattoo searching.
Lisa: I thought their interaction in the kitchen was cute. I’m ok with it because I’d like to see Patterson happy again. With that being said, I don’t want it to cause Patterson to lose focus. She is way to smart for that.
Leah: I don’t mind the pairing. They are both crazy intelligent and that is a great attraction. I am however wondering how well it can turn out. He was her therapist when David died. I’m pretty sure you are supposed to date a patient.
4. Mayfair: good gal, ambiguous gal or bad gal?
Roz: Right now ambiguous because I just can’t tell what is going on with her and her investigations.
Lisa: Oooh that’s a tough one. I have to agree with Roz and go Ambiguous because I just don’t have enough information. I want to believe she is good, but she really has been unlucky (well the people around her have really been unlucky because they keep dying).
Leah: I think she has good intentions but the longer you are involved in her line of work the more you compromise when it comes to your moral compass.
5. Jane made her choice and followed Oscar’s suggestion. Do you think she’ll stay with him or Weller in the end?
Roz: I hope it’s not team Oscar, but I have no idea. That has me worried especially since we have two episodes left.
Lisa: I really hope she ditches Oscar. I just don’t trust him. I hope her feeling for Weller will win out in the end.
Leah: I’m with you two – I’m anti Team Oscar. I’m sure he is a nice guy when he isn’t threatening to kill Weller or giving her 1/2 of a 1/2 of the information needed, but he’s not Weller so….he has to go.
Blindspot airs Mondays at 10PM on NBC.
