Blindspot Roundtable: Brass Tacks

By  |

Blindspot aired the first of two new episodes this week titled “Brass Tacks” which focused on the following:

With the surviving members of the team captured and held in FBI custody, Madeline and Ivy are in the final stages of their plan, but a few unlikely allies come out from the woodwork, trying to stop her before it’s too late.

Join the Nice Girls Cay, Rueben, Roz, and Lisa as they discuss the episode using our feature SASSY: S(tupid), A(wesome), S(o) S(o) and Y(our Thoughts):

STUPID

Roz:  Why couldn’t the team kill Madeline? After all this time, she goes out on her terms! UGH!

Cay: Yeah, her death was rather anti-climatic! Although I kind of liked that Shirley ratted her out, then Ivy killed him. They both got what was coming to them!

Who were the random young agents who offer to help Afreen and Weitz? Seems awfully dangerous/dumb for them to come forward in the way that they did.

Rueben: I agree, it wasn’t really fair that the team didn’t get to take her down brutally. As soon as she lifted that flute, I knew she had put poison in it just the way she killed her own husband. And what about her narcissistic comments that she single-handedly took down the country, that she got revenge against the FBI. Pulease?! I agree with Cay that they both (Madeline and her attorney) got what they deserved.

Lisa: They definitely got what they deserved! At first I thought Madeline was taking zip to wipe her memory so her secrets would die, I didn’t think she was killing herself! Grrr….I really wanted the team to take that bitch out! Either way, bye Madeline!!

AWESOME

Roz:  Oh thank eff Patterson wasn’t dead! I don’t think we all could have handled that for more than we did. Also, great use of old characters for one last moment.

Cay: Yep, I called it – she crawled into a tunnel. Thank goodness! I was also happy to see her hook up with Boston (as I predicted).

Rueben: Couldn’t agree with you gals more. I screamed, “Yes!” when the reveal that Patterson was alive was made. I was hoping that was the case, but I also feared what could’ve happened. I loved their (Boston and Patterson) disguises. I barely recognized Patterson under that horrible wig and beard.

Lisa: I was so excited to see Patterson! I hoped that she found an escape because she didn’t deserve to go out that way. Seeing Patterson and Boston in their gender swap disguises was awesome! I loved seeing the team working back   together. This was one of the best episodes this season.

SO SO

Roz:  Related to my thoughts above, why can’t the team seem to take out the people they need to at the right time? I needed the team to do more than they did right now for all of this because Ivy’s the only one left that I wish the team had killed with their own hands.

Cay: Obviously it didn’t last long, but seriously, Madeline as VP nominee? I know she had a lot of blackmail material, but that much?

Rueben: Yeah, I never understood how Madeline could be considered for all that given that not that long ago she was the one being hunted. I get that she had a lot of blackmail, but really? It also seemed like a waste to have Megan, Reade’s ex-fiancee included in the storyline for such a small, albeit important, part.

Lisa: My eyes rolled back in my head when Madeline said she was up for VP. Ugh…that was a serious joke.

YOUR THOUGHTS

Roz:  So much good stuff in a one episode! I hope the second half didn’t let me down!

Cay: I’m just thrilled that Madeline is gone and Patterson is alive!

Rueben: I, too, am happy that Patterson made it out and that Madeline was taken down (although not in the way she should have been taken down), but I have to admit that I was sorry to see Weitz taken down the way it happened. He sort of redeemed himself by showing up at the last minute with those rogue agents who were on the team’s side. Plus, the team’s individual reactions to Patterson being alive were pretty special, particularly Rich telling her, “promise me you won’t ever do that again.”

Lisa: As I mentioned this was the best episode this season! It reminded me of why we love this show. I can’t wait to see how this the series unfolds!
