Good Witch Recap: “Driven”

What do you think the small town of Middleton as depicted on the Hallmark Channel’s popular TV series Good Witch would be like if Cassandra “Cassie” Nightingale (lead star Catherine Bell) had never arrived there?

Thankfully, unless there is an upcoming story of ‘It’s A Wonderful Life’ planned for the one-hour drama, we’ll never know the answer to that question.

Personally I think Middleton would be in sorry shape without her. Especially given how wonderful she is at reading into relationships, providing just the right guidance to her daughter Grace and step-son Brandon and helping out her friends when and as needed.

Not to mention her patience with those who are a bit more challenging (i.e. her cousin Abigail and her next-door neighbor Sam’s ex-wife Linda). I know I would be very hard-pressed to be as patient with her out-of-control cousin or as understanding with the meddlesome Linda.

But let’s take a quick look at what happened in last night’s new episode:

•  Grace is taking driving lessons from Sam (instead of Cassie or Brandon) and while she nearly caused their deaths on the local freeway, Sam actually taught Grace a valuable lesson;
•  Abigail actually helped out her former boss Stephanie (albeit in a rather under-handed way) in her efforts to grow her business;
•  Eve, Sam’s office receptionist, is well-meaning but needs to hold her tongue a bit more when at work;
•  Linda is just not going to give up on Sam even though it’s clear he is moving on with Cassie (albeit much too slowly as far as many of the fans are concerned);
•  Martha learned a valuable lesson while attempting to heal from her recent bout of laryngitis; and,
•  Cassie really does give out the best advice to all those she cares about even if it is only in the form of one simple sentence that changes a person way of seeing a particular situation or via two well placed pens and pieces of paper.
