BLINDSPOT: “One Begets Technique” {Roundtable}

By  |

Once again, we’ve got back to an old case with a new twist and a few more complicated factors in this week’s episode of Blindspot. We Nice Girls discuss this week’s episode below.

1. Were you satisfied with reusing Big Rich and how he wove into the case this time?

Lisa: Yes, He was a charming and smart convict and I liked him (even though we aren’t supposed to). He really did a number on them this time. Smart guy!

Liz: I didn’t really care one way or the other, but it’s probably for certain we’ll see him again.

Roz: I think he was a good guy to bring back, especially because he has so many fingers in so many different pots. I’m almost happy he’s not back in jail because he’ll bring some levity back to the show when he does.

2. By the time we were introduced to the eighth most wanted man on the FBI’s list, what did you think of him? Would you rather he done anything different?

Lisa: Um…he was a little strange to me. I really thought the whole dancing and shooting the gun scene was over the top. They could have definitely left that out. And do we even know if he is in fact the right guy?

Liz: He better be the real deal in police custody or else Big Rich is a walking dead man.

Roz: Yeah, he better actually be that guy and not a random man Big Rich used to set up the team, but he was something. Not what I expected at all.

3. The twist – as always – almost seemed too far a reach. Did you buy this one and if not, what would you have rather seen?

Lisa: Although a reach, I did believe it because Big Rich was smart enough to pull it off. I liked that they had someone show the team they can’t always win (without being to dangerous). Maybe this will sharpen the team’s skills. I hope they learn from this.

Liz: To me, the real twist came at the end, when Mayfair’s ex showed up. Otherwise, I found no twist. It was all pretty predictable and disappointing to me. I don’t know what we were meant to think when Weller was clearly (and correctly) right about Rich, yet was overruled by Mayfair. It’s disappointing to watch a team that is supposed to be smart and organized fall apart in the last couple of episodes. This show is beginning to lose me.

Roz: I didn’t expect the team to get played as they did, but I think that was something we needed to see; they aren’t perfect when it comes to doing their job. But, it felt a little off in an episode that was so calm with fewer risks.

4. Big Rich is trying to get Jane to admit what she feels, but usually she is so composed at work. Do you think she’ll eventually follow his advise?

Lisa: Not if she thinks he’s still involved with the other cop. I think she will follow Weller’s lead on that. I don’t think she will put herself out there first.

Liz: I think they are leading us up to that at some point.

Roz: It’s got to happen sooner or later, but I don’t know what the end result will be.

5. Jane’s giving into Oscar’s plan about her past with Weller. Thoughts on that?

Lisa: I still don’t trust Oscar. I think she is playing both sides of the fence safely until she can remember something but she can’t do that for long. She’s got to pick one side and stick to it because she’s only going to make matters worse if she continues on the path she is on.

Liz: I think this is the way things are supposed to go. Jane and Oscar were a team once upon a time. I think a part of her remembers that and knows that she has to do what Oscar is asking of her. I’ll say it again, there’s a reason she was sent to Weller.

Roz: I feel like Oscar is still a mystery and so I never know if I want to trust what he says or not. However, Liz makes a great point, there’s a reason for Oscar’s work with Jane and for why she ended up with Weller, but I just don’t know what it is.

Blindspot is on NBC’s Monday’s at 10PM Eastern/9PM Central.
