5 Reasons We Love the Women of When Calls the Heart

By  |

With the Hallmark Channel’s popular family-friendly series When Calls the Heart third season coming to a close this weekend, it seemed like the right time to talk about why we love the women on the show.

1. Intelligence – Elizabeth Thatcher (Erin Krakow) is a young teacher raised in high-society by her wealthy parents; but she takes on her first teaching post is a small coal mining town in Western Canada. She uses her intelligence to help the children of Coal Valley (now known as Hope Valley) broaden their horizons.

2. Entrepreneurial – Abigail Stanton (Lori Loughlin) has gone through a great deal, losing her husband in a cave-in at the coal mine that once sustained the town; but she has gone on to become an entrepreneur opening her own business, the local town’s café.

3. Dedicated – Rosemary LeVeaux (Pascale Hutton) may rub people the wrong way with her perky, over-the-top antics, but one thing is for sure: she is dedicated to her craft. She loves the fact that she is an actress just as much as she loves her new fiancé Leland “Lee” Coulter and the advice column for which she writes in the town’s paper.

4. Well-Meaning – Florence Blakeley (Loretta Walsh) may be a bit of a gossip and tends to have a negative attitude, but she is well-meaning and perhaps a bit too honest for her own good. One thing is for sure, though, she adds a bit of spice to Hope Valley.

5. Resilient – Dottie Ramsey (Erica Carroll) is very resilient especially in light of her losing her husband (even if they didn’t have the best relationship in the first place) and working for the most reviled man in town – Mayor Gowen.

The final episode of the third season of When Calls the Heart will air this Sunday, April 10 on the Hallmark Channel at 9/8c.
