Stitchers and Shadowhunters Hit Up WonderCon 2016
Not only do Stitchers and Shadowhunters air on the same night on FreeForm, but they also graced the stage of WonderCon 2016 on the same day.
This past (Good) Friday cast and creative minds behind both shows took to the stage for the first time at WonderCon, which was held at the Los Angeles Convention Center this year (instead of its ‘newer’ home at the Anaheim Convention Center).
Taking to the stage for both shows were the following:
Stitchers – Emma Ishta (Kirsten), Kyle Harris (Cameron), Ritesh Rajan (Linus), Salli Richardson-Whitfield (Maggie), Damon Dayoub (Fisher), Allison Scagliotti (Camille) and Executive Producer/Series Creator Jeff Schecter
Shadowhunters – Katherine McNamara (Clary), Dominic Sherwood (Jace), Harry Shum, Jr. (Magnus), Matthew Daddario (Alec), Emeraude Toubia (Isabelle), Alberto Rosende (Simon), Isaiah Mustafa (Luke) and executive producers Ed Decter and McG.
Both shows came ready to entertain the audience with Stitchers screening the first 10 minutes of tonight’s new episode – which will feature social media star Logan Paul, who will guest star as Camillie’s brother – and Shadowhunters not only screening a special clip catching us up on what has happened in the show so far but also a sneak peek at Alec and Lydia’s upcoming wedding. That was quite a treat I must say!
The highlights from the two, separate panels are as follows:
Stitchers
• Kirsten and Cameron have done a role reversal after his near death experience in the first season’s final episode with Kyle sharing that Cameron has a “new take on life; he stared death in the face and (plans) to live his life like it could be his last” while Emma shared that Kristen is “an entirely new person who is just a wreak all the time”;
• The cast joked about learning and memorizing all the technical/science jargon with Allison sharing that “post-it notes” are used a lot;
• While Kirsten’s new suit may look really cool on TV, Emma shared that it’s “the worst thing I’ve ever worn in my life” as it’s very uncomfortable to wear. Emma all shared that she seems to be in the water “all the time”; in fact, the longest she’s been in the water during filming is 9 hours;
• Damon was congratulated on being promoted to series regular and he shared that the audience will “get to see more of what makes him tick” in season two;
• It was revealed that Ritesh holds a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and Allison has been learning Krav Maga so they would both love to see their characters exhibit some of those skills in future episodes; and,
• Jeff was asked how he came up with the idea for the show, sharing that it first came from on the Best Boys (the lighting department) on a show he formerly worked on in Canada and grew from stitching pictures together to stitches memories from the brain.
The next new episode of Stitchers will air on FreeForm tonight at 10/9c.
Shadowhunters
• Ed shared that season one of the show ends “right where they wanted it to end” and all of them are thankful – especially to the fans – that the show was given a season two order;
• Dominic and Katherine talked about how powerful the reveal scene (where Valentine confesses he is not only Clary’s father but also Jace’s) was to film and that they work hard to pay homage to the books (on which the show is based);
• The executive producers have a really action-packed season two planned;
• Alberto joked that he had to “practice how to get kidnapped” (since that happened a lot with his character of Simon) while Dominic and Matthew had a lot of fun preparing for all the action scenes they have filmed;
• Isaiah talked about Luke’s transition, sharing that I “got worse as a detective, (but) better as a wolf”;
• Emeraude shared that her character “has tricks up her sleeve” (this will mean more to fans/viewers once you see tonight’s episode) and that she has to “be the supportive sister and (will) always be there for her brother Alec”;
• Harry shared that it takes about 2 ½ hours for him to be transformed into Magnus (hair, makeup) and McG shared that they “might” get Harry to dance at some point; and
• While no spoilers were revealed, Ed did share there “will (be) a juicy cliffhanger”.
Shadowhunters airs its next new episode on FreeForm tonight at 9/8c.
