Weekly Update
Women of the Week
There were lots of great performances this week on TV, below we highlight the ones that really stood out for us. Our Women of the Week.
Adrienne Palicki as Bobbi Morse on Agents of SHIELD
Nominated by Roz: She just ended an fantastic run with some real emotional moments mixed with her great timing as Morse.
I’ll be sad to see her leave SHIELD, but I think she went out on a high note.
Seconded by:
Janet: I second Roz’s nomination of Adrienne Palicki as Bobbi Morse. In addition to always being a kick ass and more than capable agent, she has portrayed Bobbi running the gamut of emotions both during her entire run and more specifically during this episode. By the time her character’s tears could be seen rolling down her face in her final scene of “Parting Shot”, my waterworks couldn’t be held back any longer either.
Ange: I’m thirding Roz and Janet’s pick of Adrianne Palicki. She’s always been a strong player as Bobbi Morse but knocked it out of the park this week – from her quiet strength and loyalty to SHIELD when she realised that they were out of options, to the silent tears rolling down her face during the spy’s goodbye. She wil be greatly missed on Agents of SHIELD and I hope the spinoff gets picked up so we can see her back in action!
Emma Ishta as Kirsten Clark on Stitchers
Nominated by Liz: Emma gave us all the feels on “Stitchers” this week. She has so far been without emotions, a condition she acquired during an accident when she was 8 years-old. In the season 2 opener, she made us all cry right along with her when she thought that Cameron was dead. It was a great performance by her and I’m glad to be able to see more of her talent some to light.
Seconded by Rueben: I want to add a second to Liz’s choice of Emma Ishta, her character Kirsten’s reaction to Cameron nearly dying in the season premiere was extremely moving especially given that she typically never expressed feelings before.
Audrey Esparza as Agent Zapata on Blindspot
Nominated by Rueben: My main salute goes to Audrey Esparza from Blindspot, who really stepped in this week’s episode when her character Tasha Zapata went undercover in a human trafficking case that put her very life on the line. She showed incredible bravery and quick thinking in saving all those women; and playing a big hand in taking that trafficking ring down.
Ksenia Solo as Kenzi on Lost Girl
Nominated by Leah: Lost Girl ended it’s run this week and thankfully they brought back Kenzi. She was always the heart of the show, so bringing her back for the final episodes felt right. It was sad to see the character she played so well come to an end. Her snark, fierce devotion and killer style will be missed.
