Danica McKellar Enchants in “Crown for Christmas”
Crown for Christmas is the latest offering from the Hallmark Channel as part of their Countdown to Christmas event continues. Allie, a fired maid from a ritzy NYC hotel, takes a job as a governess to a young girl who is part of a powerful family in Europe. After reluctantly accepting, and upon arrival at the castle, learns the girl is Princess Theodora and that her father is Maximillion, the King of Winshire. Max informs Allie that the Princess prides herself on terrorizing authority figures and has gotten worse since her mother’s death. As the story unfolds, we see Allie bond with Theodora and also helps to bring Theodora and her father together. And through all of this, a spark forms between Allie and Max.
Allie is played by Danica McKellar and I really enjoyed the relationship between her and Theodora, played by Ellie Botterill. Allie knew how to deal with mischievous children having already raised her own younger siblings after the death of their parents. Allie could fit herself into Theodora’s level, creating a connection between them based on their longing for parents who weren’t there. Though, Teddy’s father was their physically, he was the king and had very little time for Teddy. Slowly, Allie became everything to Teddy.
Allie’s talent didn’t go unnoticed by King Maximillian (Rupert Penry-Jones), and it wasn’t long before she began to work her way into his heart. The problem was that he was already promised in marriage to Lady Celia, whom he had known since childhood.
“Crown for Christmas” is a wonderful story that I would watch again and again. Danica McKellar and Rupert Penry-Jones (hello, handsome!) sparked on screen and Ellie Botterill is a very talented young lady. I don’t know what her future plans are, as she is accomplished in acting, music and gymnastics. But I hope she continues to treat us on screen.
“Crown for Christmas” premieres November 27th at 8/7c.
