BLINDSPOT: “Sent on Tour” Roundtable
This week featured two great self-contained mysteries – and multiple tattoos – for the collective team to solve. Find out what we all thought of this week’s episode below.
Do you think that Patterson’s boyfriend is going to lead her to a dangerous place? He’s investigating tattoos all on his own now and that can’t be good.
Cay: I think he’s benign, assuming she even stays with him at this point. Maybe they can bring him in as a consultant? It’s totally her fault because she brought everything home, although admittedly, he’s doing a very good job at solving them.
Liz: You know, I may be over-thinking things, but wouldn’t it be typical of this show to have David planted in Patterson’s life because of her work? It wouldn’t surprise me in the least. It was only a matter of time before Patterson’s mistake came back and bit her.
Lisa: Yeah, he is so cute and intelligent but that was so stupid of him to have the picture all out in the open! I was like “C’mon dude at least be discreet!” I was literally waiting for something bad to happen to him, but I’m glad it didn’t. I think they are cute together but the incident last night was a huge wake-up call for Patterson, and I think for fear of being distracted she is done with him. She really messed up by bringing those photos home and now she will pay the price. (I really like him though so I hope we will still see him).
Roz: I hope he’s not going to lead Patterson somewhere dangerous, but he’s clearly too smart and too much of a problem solver to be left out of her work, even if he shouldn’t know it exists at all. Unless he gets to join the team as a consultant with some limited access to the rest of the team, I don’t know how he can do what he wants (solving more of these tattoos) without it getting Patterson into serious trouble.
Especially given that Mayfair found them while they were looking at the cipher book. What do you think it means that someone’s been using that book for communication?
Cay: We’ll have to see how long we have to wait for the payoff on that one as it seems that Patterson will likely drop it for a bit (or maybe not).
Liz: I was wondering if Mayfair was using it at one time, though I don’t know who she would have been communicating with. It was odd that this was one tattoo that seemed to be random compared to what we’ve seen so far. Although, I don’t think the tattoos are always going to lead to a criminal of the week.
Lisa: I wonder who it is! I wonder if Mayfair is familiar with the Cipher book and she is one of the people using it to communicate with someone. I think that is a badass way to communicate, but with all that effort it can’t be good. We will have to see what craziness the cipher book brings.
Roz: I’m assuming that the man with the tree tattoo is part of this, but I could be totally wrong. But someone’s using it, clearly, but we don’t know for what ends yet.
The case this week has the team going in without much back-up and a hostile. Are you glad to see them working together?
Cay: It was good to see Reade and Jane having to work together and develop some sort of trust. Otherwise, this episode *really* stretched the credibility of the premise. How could everything have been set up that perfectly weeks to months ahead of time? What if they didn’t follow the clues, what if someone tampered with stuff in the meantime, or Guerrero didn’t happen to be there when they arrived? Would a whole local police force really have gotten turned that easily? Plus Jane remembers how to fly a helicopter (which is supposed to be very complicated), yet Kurt admonished her last episode for putting her holster on wrong (which didn’t make sense then, either!)
Liz: It was about time! I liked seeing Kurt put Jane with Reade instead of him being the only partner she could ever have. If she’s part of the team, then he really needs to start treating her as such. He’s not her designated keeper. I really liked the team of Reade and Jane!
Lisa: Yes! Go Team! I liked that they switched it up. It forces the team to start trusting each other and I enjoyed seeing Reade and Jane together. Also, can we talk about the Helicopter flying for a minute? Obviously Jane could fly a helicopter before her memory was wiped, but how could she remember that so easily? Also, I was really hoping she would have a flashback of her flying a helicopter to bring it all together.
Roz: I appreciate that turn of having Patterson on her own “mission” with all the field agents off shooting things and trying to fly a helicopter, and I really appreciated that Reade and Jane had to work together. He’s the one who’s most hesitant with her still, and maybe we’ll see a difference after this week. They did work well together and did get their mission accomplished without much damage. That’s something.
Do you want to know more about Guerrero after this? Was that chase and using three tattoos worth the payoff?
Liz: Definitely need to see more of Guerrero. I didn’t feel like we really got the payoff yet. I think it’s still coming.
Lisa: I think we’ve seen the payoff yet. I definitely want to find out more about Guerrero.
Roz: If you get a guest star like Lou Diamond Phillips, he better be around for more than one episode. So, yes, I want to know more about him; how did he get that whole town to just hide him and protect him for that many years? There’s something there that I hope Mayfair wants because of her involvement in that case more than anything.
Are you excited to learn more about Daylight next week?
Cay: It was good to see Mayfair finally get called out for not being straightforward with her team. Will be interesting to see where that goes!
Liz: Oh yes, I’m ready!
Lisa: Yes! This show is making me actually look forward to Mondays. I just hope we really do learn more about Daylight and they don’t leave us hanging (like The Walking Dead did. The edge of my seat is frayed and I can’t take anymore hanging on!).
Roz: Lords of Cobal, yes! I loved the preview for showing us Mayfair out in the field and I want to see how that actually goes.
