ONE CHICAGO Women: Chicago Fire 4×01 and Chicago P.D. 3×03 Recap
Kidnappings, gunshot victims, fires and explosions – there’s never a dull moment in Chicago! Here’s what the ladies of Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D. were up to this week…
Gabriela Dawson: Things pick up with Dawson pretty much where we left off last season – she’s at Casey’s apartment looking for him when she finds a bleeding and dead Katya lying on the floor, but no sign of Casey. Luckily this whole “where is Casey?” storyline doesn’t drag out for as long as I thought it would and he’s found quickly thanks to Gabriela’s cop brother, Antonio, from Chicago P.D. With Casey back and safe, now all Dawson needs to worry about is to summon the courage to tell him that she’s pregnant with his baby, but with him being understandably being on edge after the experience he went through, Dawson may have to wait a little while longer to tell Casey the news. That’s okay though, because Dawson has enough on her plate to think about – like what the pregnancy will mean for her career, especially since she’s just come off being Firehouse 51 candidate and is a proper fire fighter now. After getting trapped when the roof of house collapses during a call, we’re sensing that Dawson will make a decision about her career soon. Speaking of this close call, it makes Casey realise how close he was to losing Dawson and that he never wants to let her go again and he tells her as much, cornering her at Molly’s. In return, Dawson finally tells him she’s pregnant and Casey is ecstatic and the pair reunite. Yay!
Sylvie Brett: This week Brett and Chili tend to a heavily pregnant gunshot victim and make the call to deliver the baby in the ambulance instead of the hospital. Sadly the mother doesn’t make it and the paramedics drown their sorrows at Molly’s later that night, trying to push the case out of their minds. It’s easier said than done though and the girls end up asking Dr Will Halstead (of the upcoming Chicago Med and also brother to Chicago P.D.‘s Jay Halstead) on the baby’s condition and we cut to the trio in the hospital looking at the alive and well newborn. Yay!
Jessica ‘Chili’ Chilton: Aside from dealing with aftermath of the deceased gunshot victim, there was also hints of a spark between Chili and Firehouse 51’s new Candidate, Jimmy Borelli, when Chili goes to help him after he makes his dramatic entrance being tossed out of a car duct taped. Too bad a call comes through before we can see what happens next!
Erin Lindsay: As per Voight’s request, Lindsay is seeing a therapist and meets up with Dr Daniel Charles (from the upcoming Chicago Med), but Erin has always had trouble opening up to others and within minutes, walks out of their meeting. Having a chat to someone probably would have done Lindsay some good because she’s about to get a lot more added to her plate, starting with her bad news mother submitting evidence against Voight accusing him of faking testimonies for a case several years ago. Lindsay tries to reason with her mother but it’s too late and the man Voight behind bar is released. At the precinct, a desperate father (played by Ray Donovan‘s Dash Mihok) has taken Intelligence’s tech guy, Mouse, hostage and it’s up to Intelligence to find the distraught man’s daughter in order to save their colleague. It turns out that the daughter has been caught up in a kidnapped girls ring but has managed to escape, but not before shooting her captor. Intelligence tracks down the shocked girl on a train and Lindsay tries to calmly talk the young female out of shooting herself. It’s pretty intense but the girl emerges from the ordeal safe and is reunited with her father. By the end of the episode, Lindsay meets up with Dr Charles again and is ready to open up about her mom.
Trudy Platt: This week’s case all started when there was chaos at the District 21 front desk and everyone wanted this desk sergeant’s attention. When Sgt Platt turns away a father looking for his missing teenage daughter, he snaps and grabs Mouse, pulls a gun on him and takes him hostage, thus clearing out the station, but not for the preferred reasons right? While she takes charge and organises for the station and surrounding areas to be evacuated, even an officer as tough as her is a little shaken. The ordeal reminds her of an incident at another local station that did not end well. The front desk is her territory and a sacred place – how are people supposed to feel safe there when incidents like these happen?
Kim Burgess: With the hostage drama and kidnapped girls, we don’t see much of Burgess this week, apart from protecting the public and helping Intelligence.
Chicago Fire airs Tuesday at 10/9c and Chicago P.D. airs Wednesdays at 10/9c, both on NBC.
