KIlljoys – 1.02 “The Sugar Point Run” Self Rescuing Princesses & New Team Members
John and Lucy track down an errant smuggler who is getting the best of the ship. Thankfully, Dutch saved the day at the last minute. Sadly, The Council ruined their good vibes with a new mandatory warrant.
This new gig isn’t optional. Dutch has been dragged into a hostage situation which requires an prisoner exchange. The Company is acting oddly. They don’t usually get involved. There is no time to ponder their motives, however because they’re going to Sugar Point! And this place is no Candy Land!
When the ship makes a hard landing their cargo Simon escapes which requires Dutch to enlist D’avin into the family business while John is left behind to repair our fair Lucy. Each team faces their own challenges. D’avin knows something is up with Dutch’s mad skills. D’avin immediately recognizes her talents are something other than standard issue. And, this brother isn’t willing to take no for an answwe. The two bond over their mutual sills and the elder brother reveals his real quest – searching for a certain military doctor.
When the pair gets in a tight spot with Scavengers Dutch pulls rank and clearly places herself at the top of the food chain by rescuing them both! Thank you, unusual homeschooling classes! Later, D’avin repays the gift when he gets Dutch away from a certain warlord. Well, that was kind of even steven! The elder brother gains some respect and is now invited to be the newest Killjoy! John looks less than trilled.
John had his hands full this episode and I am totally in love with the banter between John and the ship! Lucy is truly the fourth member of this team! It’s official! I love Lucy!
Observations & Questions
• John is not willing to share when it comes to Dutch. It doesn’t look like he will be given much of a choice in the matter.
• The flashbacks of Home Schoool Hell leave more questions than answers.
• Why was Dutch trained to kill?
• What happens if she doesn’t kill her new target in the allotted time?
