PREVIEW: Love Finds You In Charm on UP Channel

By  |

In the new UP Channel made-for-TV movie Love Finds You In Charm, based on the novel by Annalisa Daughety, actress Danielle Chuchran (from the UP Channel movie Nowhere Safe) stars as young Emma Miller, a beautiful young girl with fanciful dreams of riding along the coast in a convertible. She loves to read magazines and dream of the world just outside the classroom window where she teaches school. She eagerly watches as airplanes soar overhead, wondering where all the people onboard are traveling.

For someone Emma’s age, these aren’t unusual occurrences; there’s only one problem, though: Emma is Amish; and in her strict Indiana community her dreams of adventure, of seeing into the world of Englishers is, needless to say, frowned upon.

However, her wise father knows that Emma is torn between their Amish life in Indiana and the outside world just beyond the horizon. When an opportunity arises for Emma to travel (by train) to Charm, Ohio to help her cousin Lydia Ann with the family farm, her father encourages Emma to go, saying that maybe “the journey will help with your decision”.

Upon arriving in Charm, Emma is met at the train station by Noah Weaver (Trevor Donovan from Days of Our Lives, 90210 and the recent mini-series Texas Rising), the cousin of her cousin’s late husband, who is also helping at the family farm. As she settles into life in this quaint little town that has become very popular with tourists, she not only meets and befriends an Englisher named Kelly Bennett (Tiffany Dupont from Greek), but also meets a new man outside of the Amish world: Andy Nevins (Drew Fuller from Charmed and Army Wives), the Editor of Wine, Cheese and Dining, the biggest blog on the internet.

Andy is in Charm for the upcoming Autumn Festival where Emma has entered her renowned goat cheese into the cheese auction. A competition, of course, builds between Noah and Andy for Emma’s heart and the decision she has to make about staying within the Amish community or leaving just got a little bit harder.

I won’t spoil the ending of this family-friendly movie, but I can say that Emma is a very interesting character made all the more captivating by her love of Jane Austen novels. She faithfully reads Pride & Prejudice, Sense & Sensibility and Persuasion throughout the two-hour film.

Love Finds You In Charm will debut on UP Channel on Sunday, June 7 at 7/6c. In the meantime, here is a trailer for the movie.
