HART OF DIXIE: “The Butterstick Tab” {Recap}
Why is Wade flirting with the mail carrier? Over Zumba and Egyptian cotton sheets? At least Zoe’s got the right idea to chide him for it and hopefully he’ll change soon enough.
Over at chez Breeland, Lemon’s upset that Alice was in town and even more upset that Alice wants to see both Lemon and Magnolia. Lemon’s in a sour mood when AB tells her about she and George going on a date, and how Lemon didn’t go over to see Lavon and tell him what’s going on. George also tells Lavon about his date with AB.
But that’s not as complicated as when Scarlett and her dad come into Zoe’s office and when Alice sees Lemon for the first time in so many years. Lemon yells that Alice should get out, and as a good mother should, she does.
Wade has a tab at The Butterstick but Zoe doesn’t want him to use it for her. Too bad that when he tries to do it how Zoe wants, he can’t.
AB wants Crickett’s help (and her girlfriend’s) buying a dress for her date with George, but then Jaysene tries to tell AB how it’s a good idea to not go somewhere where she’s been with a past beau. But that comes up as Jaysene also tell her own awkward stories about past dates gone wrong.
Scarlett comes back to see Zoe again, and this time Lemon sees her. That goes about as well as can be expected, but Lemon – queen of compartmentalization – goes off to plan baby Ethel’s birthday party rather than deal with the truth. Lemon’s ire about seeing Scarlett and Alice makes it way all the way to the start of the party, when Magnolia notices. Scarlett runs away to see Zoe after hearing all about Lemon’s story and Zoe has to take in Scarlett and tell her a bit about Lemon and Magnolia while also telling Scarlett about Zoe’s own past.
AB and George have to settle on a Norwegian restaurant (with a bad review) because every other restaurant in the area has a memory associated with it.
When Wade tells all the women who give him free stuff that he can’t take them anymore, they are offended that they think they do that for him. Oops? His telling them all that stops the alcohol delivery, and his fishing pole is broken before he also gets at $4300 bill from The Buttrestick. Zoe tells Wade to fix it all, and hopefully it will.
Magnolia also meets Scarlett, without knowing the younger girl is her half-sister, but Zoe tries to shuttle Scarlett out before baby Ethel’s party goes all wrong. But avoiding the problem at the party only delays the news until Lemon goes to Alice’s job and Scarlett and Zoe walk in on Lemon’s impassioned rant. Magnolia not liking Shelby isn’t going to change how Shelby thinks of Magnolia. Finally Magnolia hears about Alice and Scarlett, and when Magnolia wants Shelby to stay and share her opinion, the ultimate decision on how to include Alice and Scarlett is up to Lemon.
Lemon, in the end, goes to see Alice and Scarlett and talks to Scarlett for the first time as a person rather than the anonymous child who kept her mother away from her.
AB and George’s date is awkward, especially with the tasting menu and a waiter that says they’ll eat what they put in front of them without complaining. When they want to end with a kiss goodbye, they can’t because the food comes back up the wrong way. Over breakfast the next day, they have their first kiss and maybe forget all of breakfast in general.
Wade finally admits that he needs take care of himself rather than allowing all of these women to do it for him, and hopefully that clears all of ill-will he established earlier.
Hart of Dixie airs on Fridays at 8 PM Eastern/7 PM Central on the CW.
