VIKINGS 3.02 – ‘The Wanderer’ Viking’s dream too.
Princess Kwenthrith promptly gets herself rip roaring drunk and demands her uncle’s head. Floki was all to happy to comply with her request and practically skipped back with it on his return. When the Princess received her grim prize, she promptly spat and stabbed it with an almost crazed vigor. And, once we knew the reason why, I say her dead uncle would have looked better with a few more holes in his head.
Lagertha clearly knows the gift of land from King Ecbert may have a few strings attached in the form of the displaced Saxon farmers who were “removed.” Ebert professes his personal protection. His heart may be in the mix as well. He proves his point later with the gift of earth and jewelry. Did she just bat her eyes a bit at that? I think the Earl might be smitten too.
In Kattegat, three women dream the same dream….a stranger comes. None of this makes sense yet, but we all know who this stranger is. Kevin Durand. As to what happens to our wanderer when he arrives is anyone’s guess. Honestly, I don’t care. Any storyline Show Creator Michael Hirst comes up with for Kevin is sure to be brilliant!
In Scandanavia, Lagertha’s second in command Kaluf has revealed his true colors and he promptly betrays her in lieu of declaring himself Earl. His declaration however does not appear to arrive without some reservations of his own in the form of fearful dreams of Ragnar eating his liver. It seems Kaluf has some major Northman envy for the Viking king. “What sensible man would not be afraid of a farmer who made himself a king”
Athelstan is squarely in the crosshairs of Lady Judith. I fear her infatuation is to be short lived. His heart is already occupied by not one, but two gods. The stigmata proves it so.
Floki’s day was made ever more gleeful when one of his fellow brothers asked him to cut off his infected arm. The deed was done with equal parts brutality and kindness. A dichotomy that represents the Vikings well and keeps us all coming back for more week after week.
