Christmas in Palm Springs: Bringing Separated Parents Back Together for the Holidays

By  |

The original UP Channel holiday movie Christmas in Palm Springs will debut this Sunday, November 23 at 7/6c, focusing on a set of parents – Jessica and Joe Brady (Dina Meyer and Patrick Muldoon both from Starship Troopers) – who are headed for divorce and brought together in Palm Springs by their kids Dylan (Devin Lawrence) and Zoey (Kirstin Dorn), who are doing everything they can to get them back together before the holidays.

Joe is a New York playwright whose latest play is in great demand by a Los Angeles agency just awaiting a West Coast run while Jessica is a determined PR executive longing to land an important client.

Jessica is told by her boss Ian (David Chokachi from Baywatch) that they need to go to Palm Springs in order to woo Mayor Tomlin (Erin Gray from Buck Rogers in the 25th Century and Silver Spoons); but Jessica doesn’t want to leave for the holidays without her kids as she is not comfortable leaving them with their dad, who is more a best friend to them than a parent (at least in her opinion).

Meanwhile, Joe’s somewhat overbearing agent Teddy (Ian Ziering from Beverly Hills 90210 and the Sharknado TV films) pushes him to get to Los Angeles to sign the deal on his play; and Joe’s kids – determined to get their parents back together – uses their honed hacking skills to get their dad booked at the same Palm Springs hotel as them.

At the hotel, they all meet Gabe (veteran actor Bill Cobbs from Night at the Museum), the front desk clerk, who takes a special interest in the kids and their goal of getting their parents back together.

You’ll have to watch the holiday film to see just how far the kids will go to get their parents reunited and just what Joe does to get Jessica to fall back in love with him, but it does include a rockin’ Santa Claus on a parade float.

While this made-for-TV movie might be a bit saccharine-sweet (it is on the UP Channel after all), it does provide a good dose of humor and shows what the holiday spirit is all about.

Make sure to check out Christmas in Palm Springs on the UP Channel this Sunday at 7 PM.

In the meantime, you can also check out a trailer for the film here.
