Discover the Spirit of the Season on UP Channel’s PAPER ANGELS
A new holiday movie called Paper Angels will debut on the UP Channel tomorrow, starring Josie Bissett (the original Melrose Place) and Matthew Settle (Gossip Girl) that will focus on two very different families who find the spirit of the season while bringing attention to the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program
Based on the book of the same name by country music singer-songwriter Jimmy Wayne, who grew up as a foster kid, highlights his mission to bring awareness to kids who age out of the foster system and become homeless.
This heartwarming movie is about abused wife Lynn Brandt (Bissett), who leaves her alcoholic husband Darryl (Russell Porter), with her two kids, Thomas (Rustin Gresiuk) and Sara (Farryn Van Humbeck). They move to another town where Lynn struggles to make ends meet working as a waitress to support the family.
In that same town, Kevin Morrell (Settle) is helping his wife Jenny (Kendra Anderson) through a difficult pregnancy with twins, while fighting to keep his marketing and design company afloat.
Meanwhile, Thomas starts at his new school and becomes the target of a bully, Vic West (Burkely Duffield), who is threatened by how well Thomas plays basketball. Unable to join the high school team, Thomas goes to the community center where he meets Kevin and the two of them become unlikely friends through pickup basketball games.
Lynn decides to register Thomas and Sara for the Angel Tree Program and instead of getting gifts for each other Jenny and Kevin decide to pick two names off the tree; one of them being Thomas. But unbeknownst to either family, they will be connected by this special program. And despite the cyberbullying inflicted by Vic, Thomas steps up and turns the situation around, making good out of a bad situation with the help of his new friend Cassie (Anja Savcic)
This made-for-TV holiday movie is a touching film that shows by allowing your faith to guide your path, good things come to those who think of others before themselves. And, to learn more about the Angel Tree Program, please visit The Salvation Army.
Paper Angels will debut on the UP Channel tomorrow, Sunday, November 16 at 7 PM (EST) and 6 PM (PST).
