Heaven-Sent Matchmaking Ensues in ANGELS AND ORNAMENTS
The Hallmark Channel is in full holiday mode with their Countdown to Christmas programming, which began November 1st. Hallmark proclaims itself to be “the heart of Christmas”, and nothing says it more than “Angels and Ornaments”. This movie is steeped in the warmth of memories, lost love and hope, and I wouldn’t recommend watching this without a big box of tissues nearby. This is not to say that it will leave you depressed or sad, far from it! It may, however, lead you down your own path of fond holiday memories, as it did for me.
“Angels and Ornaments” follows Corrine, who, still smarting from a recent breakup, still finds a way to prepare for Christmas – her favorite holiday. It’s really the love story of her grandparents that keep her rooted in the spirit of the season. Their story sets the tone for this movie, and more than one unrequited love story becomes, well, requited! What Corrine is looking for is that perfect love that her grandparents had.
Corrine works in a music shop owned by her childhood friend, Dave, who has carried a torch for Corrine since they were kids. Of course these two were made for each other, but sometimes close friendships make it difficult to see that there can be romance as well. It takes the mysterious Harold to make Corrine and Dave see each other in a new light.
Harold is charged with the challenging job of getting Corrine and Dave together. However, we soon find out the real reason that Harold was chosen for this particular job. He comes into the pair’s lives when Dave hires him for extra holiday help at the store. He gets to work quickly, encouraging Dave to take that bold step toward wooing Corrine, and helping Corrine see that for all she thinks she knows Dave, there’s a lot that she never did know at all.
Harold has the added challenge of completing his mission by Christmas Eve for his own reward, which turns out to be exactly not what he was expecting.
“Angels and Ornaments” stars Jessalyn Gilsig (“Vikings,” “Glee”), Sergio Di Zio (“Flashpoint”) and Graham Abbey (“Degrassi: The Next Generation”), and airs Sunday, November 16, at 8/7c on the Hallmark Channel.
