Jewel Staite: Kaylee is a Bad…

By  |

Early Sunday Morning at Stan Lee’s Comikaze brought out all sorts of facts in Jewel Staite’s panel about her various works moderated by Jenna Busch of Legion of Leia.

In only thirty minutes, Jewel (and the audience) celebrated Kaylee from Firefly, going so far as to call the character a badass numerous times. Staite was glad to hear so many fans saw that side of Kaylee, especially because she was always the nice character on the show.

While many fans in the audience were sad that Firely is no longer a show we can watch, the cast hangs out with each other often. To them, even though the show is over, their friendships aren’t. Related, Nathan Fillion has a large collection of Firefly memorabilia (both from the set and from other places), including throw pillows of Captain Reynolds. That’s certainly one way to endear him to more fans.

In between jokes about how Staite had been hanging out with some of the cast the night before, she also mentioned how she wasn’t enamored with fan fiction. To her, all of those actors are friends and nearly all the stories she has seen make her feel uncomfortable (Simon and Kaylee was the only idea she didn’t seem to be squeamish about).

Fans also supported some of her other earlier projects – showing love for both The Adventures of Pete and Pete, Flash Forward and Space Cases.

Below are a few other photos of Jewel from her panel.

Roz lives in the Los Angeles area, and has been a long time California girl. Despite her better judgment, she enjoys shows about the shallow sides of her home city, but will also find time to watch iZombie, Jane the Virgin, and much more. With a love of history, she also watches anything that is grounded in real life, including Victoria and black-ish. Having worked with children, she also follows shows she knows they watch (reminding her of those days of yore for her in the process). Contact her at roz@nicegirlstv.com.
