NEW GIRL Recap: Cruise

The season finale of New Girl takes place on a cruise ship.

Nick and Jess had booked it when they were together and now that they are broken up they don’t’ want to go alone. The package was non-refundable so they talked the cruise line into letting them bring four other people.

Coach spends most of the cruise freaked out because he is scared of boats. In fact at one point he ends up being held by the safety officer (the hilarious Oscar Nunez) while he sings Amazing Grace to coach to calm him down.

Schmidt had a class ring made for Cece. She got her GED and he thought it would be nice. That and he is still in love with her. He spends a good portion of the cruise trying to create the perfect moment with Cece. In the end he tells her he just wants her to be happy.

Winston is just happy to be on the vacation until he finds that Nick and Jess have decided they can’t remain friends. It is just too weird. They come to this realization after attempting to do all of the activities on the non-refundable grand romance package. This includes; couples yoga, couples portraits, couples massages and towel folding.

Winston talks to the gang and they get Nick and Jess into their cabin for an intervention. The group apologizes for putting so much pressure on them to not be weird. Of course it is going to be weird.

Cece says they all are a little weird. She goes first. She has made out with half the guys in the room. Winston has nightmares about making out with Nick, and himself. Coach is bummed out he will never know what it will feel like to carry a child inside of him. Jess says it is weird she lives with her ex-boyfriend. Nick feels weird about living with his ex-girlfriend.

They thank everyone for the intervention and go to leave the room only to find the door is stuck. They end up stuck in that room for three days. When they are finally found they are delirious and completely crazy. Talk about weird.

When they get home Schmidt tells Nick and Jess he has an idea about the sleeping arrangements. He will put bunk beds in his room and Nick can bunk with him, like they did in college. Jess thinks that is a great idea.
