VIKINGS Season 2 FINALE – ‘The Lords Prayer’ Magic Mushrooms, Deception & Death
Floki is sporting some incredible guy liner this episode, and guess what? He’s a Daddy!
When Helga presents him his daughter, flaky Floki freaks out. He quickly sends his wife and child away and you know something is up. But what? That is the million dollar question this episode.
King Horik’s entire family arrives and I do believe that is the first time I’ve seen that dude smile. EVER. It is good to know his heart’s not three sizes too small after all. Ragnar greets Horik and his brood with a feast and we are treated to parties Viking Style. Shieldmaiden’s drinking mead and swapping stories of blood and murder. Oh the memories! Glory Days indeed!
But all is not is as it seems. The scheming quickly begins and Horik gathers his forces. He speaks to Floki of loyalty and tests. He asks Floki to commit murder in proof of his loyalty. Siggy too is given a task. Kill Ragnar’s youngest children. Well, at least he gave her a knife to help. The King left Floki was left to his own devices.
On the surface things look beyond bad, but I keep feeling all of this is some sort of grand scheme. I just haven’t been able to put all the pieces together yet. Lagertha had it right, “The gods are coming.”
This season will not end as last with Ragnar on the run. Horik does attack in an attempt to end Ragnar, however that Viking’s got quite a bit of magic left in him to pull of a major twist. Horik discovers only too late the joke is on him. And, in the end, he is surrounded by his conspirators along with Ragnar who murders him quite soundly with the knife that was given to kill his own children. Beating someone’s head in is exhausting work. Whew! Someone give that guy a Gatorade!
We are left with Ragnar sitting on a cliff wrapped in fur holding the king’s sword . It appears he is looking toward England. My guess is Ragnar’s only begun to conquer. King Ecbert better look out! The Vikings are coming!
Observations:
• It was good to see Porunn enjoying her freedom and her challenge of Bjorn was completely understandable in their world. She wanted more than his love. Respect was asked as well, and it appears as if Bjorn passed the test with flying colors.
• Floki with the magic mushrooms was wonderful! Now we know for sure the Vikings were the original Hippies!
• I am so loving the bromance going on between Athelstan and Ragnar. When our Tiny Viking was teaching Ragnar to pray, I got chills.
