HELIX Season Finale – 1.13 ‘Dans L’ombre’ Shock & Awe Everywhere

Shock and Awe! Shock and Awe.
The season finale of Helix BLEW MY MIND and I may need to curl up in a ball somewhere to recover!

What were the shockers?
• Hatake allowed Ilaria to take Jane to protect Julia.
• Hatake created the Narvick Virus to protect Jane.
• Sergio’s looking for a list of Abducted Inuit Children, but why?
• The Narvick Virus has already been released.
• Sarah’s Pregnant! Wowzers!
• Whiplash! Peter is actually on the side of the Immortals.
• And, last but not least, Julia is abducted by the Infant Assassin.

It’s day 235 and Alan is interrogating an Immortal. Wait. What? What the hell is going on? “Ilaria is everywhere. while all you do is hide in the shadows.”

Snap back. It’s day thirteen and now Julia is questioning The Scythe. He’s not talking either. Immortals are good that way. Later Peter and Alan give the questioning a whirl, but the shock comes to them in a different form. Narvik is already out! Crazy! I cannot keep up!

Dr. Walker comes upon a sobbing Hatake.  His heart is broken due to Daniels sacrifice. “Because he knew that I would have made the same choice.” His words create new heart-break all over again for Daniel. This hurts. Hatake confesses his sins and admits he allowed Illaria to take Jane as a hostage as protection against Julia. Hatake was in an impossible position and it looks like he made the best choice possible. Despite all the pain he caused, Hatake suffered most of all.

Anana and Miksa are outside looking for Sergio, while Balleseros trudges alone in the snowstorm. Where’s a tauntan when you need one? Sergio is saved by the remaining female Immortal who believes he is still on their side. Surprise! Surprise! He’s not! And, she gets a bullet to the head for her trouble.

All of Hatake’s skeletons are coming out of the closet when the abduction of Inuit children are explained. Sergio agrees to trade the virus for the location of the kids. It appears he has his own agenda. Who IS he working for? Hiroshi hands the virus and its cure over to Peter for safekeeping.

Jane is released from the box and a reunion of sorts occurs. It takes a bit for Mommy Dearest to catch on which leads to some special awkward moments between herself, Julia and Alan. Don’t feel bad Mom, I’ve been here the whole time and I can’t figure it out either.

Back in the interrogation room, Peter is left alone with the Immortal and in the biggest twist of the night it is revealed. He is a traitor! Peter! Say it isn’t so! You’re on Illaria’s side? Liar, liar pants on fire! Where are the smelling salts? Honestly, I may swoon!

Dr. Jordan decides to leave the Montana Bunker to inform Alan of the removal of the canisters. One of the doctors convinces her to a blood test. The results are surprising. Elevated HCG levels. What trickery is this?

The end wraps up quickly as everyone looks to flee the base. And, in true Ginsu Knife form: “But Wait! there’s more!” happens.  Dr. Jordan’s cancer hasn’t returned. Her blood work reveals she’s Preggers! While it appears things are sweet again between Julia and Alan, it leads one heck of a lover’s triangle. No, I counted wrong. Lover’s square. Julia, Alan, Sarah and Peter! If three’s a crowd what does four mean?

As Arctic Biosystems’ explodes, the Scythe abducts Julia while managing to kill her mother in the process. Just as the helicopter lifts off with Julia in tow, in flys Sutton’s head! This gives Alan just enough time to take one of the vials and fall to the ground.

Holy Hanna! It’s not over yet! We are transported again to day 235. The Virus is out while Alan continues his search for Julia. He meets with Peter and the two devise a plan for her rescue. Has Peter switched sides again? I cannot keep up! Help me!

One final knock out scene leaves us with a meeting of Immortals and they are waiting for Julia. Dr. Walker appears at the head of the table with a smile.

WHAA?? I’m afraid. Somebody save me! 2015 cannot come soon enough!
