Celebrating TV Couples for Valentine’s Day

By  |

Over the past couple of years I have paid homage to some of my favorite TV couples in honor of Valentine’s Day. But this year I decided to do something slightly different. I wanted to shine a light on some different couples such as a new couple that viewers will get to know in an upcoming mid-season show, new couples who are just getting together or back together, an unexpected couple or two and a dream couple that hasn’t come together yet.

So let’s have at it, shall we:

Emery and Roman

Emery and Roman

Emery and Roman on Star-Crossed (Aimee Teegarden and Matt Lanter) – They play – pun (somewhat) intended – star-crossed lovers: one from Earth and the other an alien known as an Atrian. They met as children when Roman’s race crash landed in her hometown; and 10 years later they meet again as teenagers, discovering a new love neither of them may be ready for quite yet.

Star-Crossed will debut on The CW on February 17

Oliver and Felicity

Oliver and Felicity

Oliver and Felicity on Arrow (Stephen Amell and Emily Bett-Rickards) – These two are not a couple in the traditional sense, or honestly not enough a couple at all; but they certainly are the one couple that fans want to see end up together the most. Their ending up together, however, most likely won’t happen until the show comes to a close, allowing Oliver to be happy with the one person who actually means the most to him.

Arrow airs on Wednesday nights on The CW.

Elizabeth and Jack

Elizabeth and Jack

Elizabeth and Jack on When Calls the Heart (Erin Krakow and Daniel Lissing) – Sure the whole point of putting a pretty, well-meaning school teacher and a hunky Canadian Mountie in a small remote mining town in this family-friendly period piece drama is to see them end up as a couple, but anyone who has seen the show knows they have great chemistry.

When Calls the Heart airs on Saturday nights on the Hallmark Channel.

George and Tansy

George and Tansy

George and Tansy on Hart of Dixie (Scott Porter and Mircea Monroe) – They have already been a couple once and are on their way back to being a couple again; and even though they both have quite a history with other people in the small town of Bluebell, I honestly think they are right for each other.

Hart of Dixie will air its winter finale on February 10 on The CW.

John and Astrid

John and Astrid

John and Astrid on The Tomorrow People (Luke Mitchell and Madeleine Mantock) – They are an unlikely pair, but after a recent episode of the new CW drama where John protects Astrid from Ultra agents set on eradicated her and Astrid saving his life, there is definitely a vibe between these two that could develop into a relationship, as long as Stephen and Cara can stay out of the way.

The Tomorrow People airs on Wednesday nights on The CW.

Clay and Elena

Clay and Elena

Clay and Elena on Bitten (Greyston Holt and Laura Vandervoort) – Elena may be in a relationship with another man, but she obviously has a history (good, bad or otherwise) – and an undeniable chemistry (whether she wants to or not) with Clay; and more likely than not – as the show rolls on – we’ll see whether she can keep her heart away from him or not.

Bitten airs on Friday nights on Syfy.

Alison and Isaac

Alison and Isaac

Alison and Isaac on Teen Wolf (Crystal Reed and Daniel Sharman) – At first this pairing seemed to be all kinds of wrong, but over the last few episodes it has become obvious that they are the hot new wanna-be couple on this captivating thriller. They finally shared a kiss in a recent episode and it will not be a long time before they advance to much more.

Teen Wolf airs on Monday nights on MTV.

Those are my fun new couples to be on the look-out for over the rest of this TV season. But who are your favorite new couples? Please share your thoughts below.
